[Sometime after the ponies wake up, scrolls and quills suddenly start raining from the sky. Don't worry, its not the ponypocalypse, its just a squadron of flying white ponies dropping them from above.

Once everyone receives one, the scrolls suddenly glow and come to life, its surface revealing the visage of a large white alicorn with rainbow hair and a golden crown, sitting on a large, velvet-upholstered throne. She has a calm, reassuring, regal smile on her face as she speaks, though those who know her better can see the light of worry and concern in her eyes.]

Good afternoon, newponies! I am Princess Celestia.

I've heard of your arrival in Ponyville and of some of the more interesting stories that have come from it. We're...not certain how this phenomenon has occurred, but we here at the royal castle will put our efforts into solving this mystery, and I hope you will help us out as we wish to help you out!

Rest assured, no harm will come to you. Nor, as some of you have worried, are we holding you against your will. On the contrary, you're free to move about Equestria as you please, be it through Ponyville, Los Pegasus or anywhere in between. I only request that you use the scrolls we have provided you to check in from time to time, so that we know where you might be when we figure out the solution to this current situation.

If you have any questions, you are free to ask them of me. If I am not available - and, I will admit, there are times when I can be quite busy - there are many other ponies willing to help you, including the other princesses of Equestria. We are all in this together, after all.

[And then she smiles a little more. Its a much more relaxed smile. The concern is still there, of course.]

But, in the meantime, I'd also like to get to know all of you! I always like to meet new people, after all. I hear we even have a dragon?

[...Certainly not one in common use, no, but Flare had gotten used to it, spending so much time recently around the more religious types.

The lack of recognition, though, seems to confuse the pegasus for a moment, before she rolls up the scroll and takes it some place more private, unrolling it and speaking again.]

Is this another of your jests, Your Highness? I would think I made... a rather lasting impression last time we talked, what with running my mouth like that.

[...And then a creeping dread nags at the back of her head. She didn't like this, not one bit.]

I'm afraid not. I do not recall meeting you prior to this moment.

[She can see that rather unnerved countenance. This was quite awkward, as Celestia always made a point to remember people, after all.]

But, that doesn't mean we cannot be reacquainted, does it?

We can certainly be reacquainted, Honored Sun, but...

[There's a slightly distant look for a moment, and that unnerved look gets more worried as Flare starts to chew on her lower lip before speaking.]

Unless you're familiar with the names Lighthoof, Arma-One, and the First Stallion... I... get the feeling that I'm not in the Equestria I was foaled in...

[Oh. Oh, now this is...]

I'm afraid I'm not aware of anypony by those names. This does make things quite more complicated, at least when it comes to the situation in general. Especially if what you say about this not being the Equestria you remember is true.

[She actually smirks slightly as she hears the confirmation. Somehow, she gets the feeling Princess Celestia is fully sincere - either Celestia's one heck of a good actress, or she's not playing coy to keep from spilling national secrets.]

If nothing else, that means that hopefully you and your sister went through much less trouble here than back where I'm from.

[Flare closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, puffing herself up as best she can.]

My name is Flare Star, Honored Sun. Head Fillydelphian town guard, former Honesty Proxy of Cloudsdale, and newly-appointed Searchlight in charge of internal corrections.

[Sheepishly, she goes back to her normal posture, actually a bit timid now.]

And if you'd point out which parts of that you aren't familiar with, it would do a lot to iron out the differences.

...Oh my. I'm afraid the only thing which rings any kind of bell is Fillydelphia.

['Honesty Proxy'? 'Searchlight'?]

[Flare shakes her head, softly.]

I take it, then, that there's neither a Celestial nor a Lunar priesthood, then. Good; religion was mucking everything up worse anyway.

[The next part is a little quieter, as she realizes how redundant that makes HER.]

I hunt monsters, and try to keep ponies from hurting other ponies. 'sabout the ONLY good I can do with my talent...

There isn't any priesthood of that kind at all.

[The whole 'worshiping' thing is slightly awkward anyhow. Especially since it caused problems before.]

Really? You don't have any hobbies or things you do in your downtime?

Hunting monsters is my hobby, Princess.

You must be quite brave then, Flare Star!

Brave, foalish... I mean, it takes a special brand of brick-headed to willingly go into a cockatrice's nest.

I... this might not be my Equestria, but if you need anything, Honored Sun, that can actually get done by a pony with a useless talent in fighting... you know where to find me.

Of course, Flare Star. But, promise me one thing.

Do not ever think your talent is useless again. Everypony is given their talents for a reason, including yourself. And I'm certain being useless isn't one of those reasons.

[And that Discord-may-care smirk she once gave her world's Celestia comes out in full force.]

The pony makes the talent, the talent doesn't make the pony. S'something I learned from you, in fact.

Doesn't mean that this world needs a talent like I've got to be put on display, or idolized.

Of course. But, you should also not sell yourself short on the things you can do for people with your talents.

[She's not unnerved by it by any means.]
