(Don't worry; you're not imagining things. That is a red hoodie appearing to float on the scroll, but there's a pony beneath it and she'll reveal herself in a moment!)

Um...hi! Wow, I didn't know you could use scrolls like this! So, my sister Yang once told me I should try to get to know people better...or in this case, ponies...so I'm Ruby! Ruby Rose, from Beacon Academy! And, if anyone's heard or seen my friends -Weiss, Blake and my sister- could you let them know where I'm at and-!

(Ruby's explanation is cut off rather abruptly by a bark, Zwei making his presence known by appearing from her backpack and panting. And then another bark.)

...Zwei, no! Not while I'm in the middle of an interview...I'll introduce you to everypony later...so anyway, I'd appreciate it very much. We were in the middle of a...really tough assignment for class and they probably wouldn't like it if I just vanished without saying anything!

Neither would the Professor...! (The scroll rolls up and turns off almost instantly.)

Ruby? ...Ruby!!

[Hopefully the blonde-maned pony that appears over the scrolls is still recognizable.

She peers closely into the feed, looking at something just over Ruby's shoulder.]

Did...did you bring Zwei with you?

[How in the...nope, later.]

Where are you? I'll come find you.

...Yang!

(It's very recognizable, as Ruby's smile widens and the hood comes right off. Hope you don't have a hard time figuring out her look either.)

Ehehe, well...I hadn't planned on it but...

(She looks around for a moment, putting her backpack down and Zwei hops out of it, sniffing around curiously.)

We're near what looks like a candy store. Can you find it?

Yeah, stay right there. I'll come find you.

[She closes her scroll and leaves without a further word. Whether it took her any trial and error to find the right store, it doesn't seem to matter because in short order, Yang appears at the end of the street.

Spotting Ruby, she gallops over to her, immediately pulling her into a hug.]

Oh, I can't believe you're here, I missed you!

[She really hadn't liked the thought of not being able to see her sister at all while she was here.]

Yang...!

(Ruby lets out a short gasp as she's hugged, definitely reminded of her strength while hugging Yang back.)

I just saw you with the others after Zwei woke me up, but...I-I'm glad you're safe.

[She lets her go after a moment at least.]

Thanks. I've been here a few days already though.

[That's an awfully casual delivery of that fact.]

...There's some weird disconnect between Remnant and this world. Jaune's here too, and he said he's been stuck here for a month.

[And she believes him.]

...Really? Jaune's been here for a month?

(She'd believe him too if she heard it from his mouth.)

Maybe it chooses which of us to come here at random? What's the last thing you remember from home?

(Connecting the dots could help.)

[She nods, looking a little concerned. For a moment it seems like she might interject something further but instead she pauses to consider Ruby's question, bringing a hoof up in thought. It's been a few days and a lot has happened in that short span of time.]

Ummm...wait, it was after we all made camp. You had first-watch, while the rest of us got some sleep.

[Or tried to, in her case.]

(Ruby listened intently to what Yang said and gasped, one hoof coming up to press against her face since she didn't know what would happen if she tried with two.)

...But, th-that's impossible! I remember having first watch, but when I went to turn in you were still there and Zwei started barking at something and I woke up. When we went to see what happened...we were here.

[One of her ears goes back at Ruby's description, and she paws a hoof into the ground.]

Yeah, it's really weird. And that's just the start of it.

The last thing Jaune remembers? Is seeing us off before we left.

...Seriously? Before we left?

(Ruby starts pawing at the ground with a hoof of her own, a worried look in her eyes as she tugs at her hood a few times.)

Maybe it'd be better if we had Weiss and Blake here too. They could help us figure this out.

Hmmm...

[It's not completely a sound of agreement, and she glances aside. If she was able to more easily reach it, she'd probably be fidgeting with her blonde mane right about now.

Having their teammates here would be helpful. ....But it'd also mean their entire team was trapped here too.]

(Ruby places a hoof against Yang's shoulder. It's moments like this that remind her that as the leader, Ruby's gotta be resourceful and rally her team in times of crisis. But in this case, her team was just her and her sister. And she's usually gone to Yang when things went bad.)

We can figure this out. It'll just take a little time, right? What we should do is figure out where we'll live while we're in town.

[She smiles at that.]

Sure we can! There's got to be some ponies or something around that have lived here long enough to have some answers.

[She's gotten a few tidbits of information in the short few days she's been here but they've admittedly only led to more questions.

She taps a hoof a little into the dirt.]

Wellll, Jaune's got this...camp up in the woods.

[Yyyyeeahhh...]

But there's also some communes at the end of the town. Room and board is free to anyone who helps out with the chores there.

...Eheheh...he does, huh?

(It didn't sound like a place Ruby wanted to try living at. Visiting, maybe. Ruby's face brightens at the idea of the communes however.)

That sounds okay! Helping out with the chores sounds like a great idea to repay them back for letting us stay. Have you gotten to go by yet?

Yeah, it's...a thing.

[She smiles wryly before brightening.]

I stopped by a couple of times. They're not too bad. Just a little busy with all the other residents there.

[She grins a little at a thought.]

I've kinda been thinking of getting a job as a guard or something down at this Night Market they've got here though. It's not as exciting as being a Huntress, but it'll help keep the skills up with no Grimm here. And the money could get put towards a house or some place better to stay.

How many residents are there for it to be that busy?

(It's probably just as big as Beacon, she believes. Hearing about a possible job as a guard does pique her interest.)

That sounds like a great idea, working as a guard! Do you think I'd be able to get work like that too? Maybe after we've saved up enough money for a house, we could have a guest room set up where Jaune could stay if he wanted.

(They had to look out for their fellow classmates, right? Even if they weren't on the same team.)

[She shrugs.]

It's kinda on this farm, so there's lots of stuff going on. Especially with winter coming, I guess.

[So sorta like Beacon. If Beacon was a farm maybe.

Her grin widens at Ruby's enthusiasm.]

Sure you could! We might even be able to get the same shifts.

[They've got to have more than one guard on duty at a time right?]

Hey, that's a great idea! I mean, he's gonna have to stay somewhere once it gets too cold outside.

[He can't possibly spend winter out in that camp of his, stubbornness or no.]

Yeah...living on a farm's better than nothing, right?

(She smiles eagerly at Yang's suggestion. Working the same shift as her sister...she'd love it!)

That would be great! We could get the day shift and spend our afternoons training together. I know I'm a little older, but maybe every few nights you could...tell me a few stories like you used to?

(She's feeling a bit nostalgic and this could help her get past not having Weiss and Blake around.)

Yeah! Hehe, there's probably no one in Beacon who I'd wanna leave out in the cold with winter coming...right?

(There's one guy, preferably the one who bothered Jaune sometime ago, who might have to fend for himself.)

Definitely.

[She nods in agreement. Camping outside might be a novelty but it kinda gets old really fast, so far as she's concerned.

Her smile softens at Ruby's suggestion. Truthfully, she's been missing her teammates too, and Ruby herself up until just now, so a little nostalgia is a-okay with her.]

Aww, yeah, I think I can do that.

[Then she laughs, grinning teasingly.]

Nobody at all?

[She's pretty sure she knows who Ruby might be thinking of.]

(Ruby's smile widens, not at just the thought of the two living together in the communes but hearing the stories like she had years ago had her really excited. Yang will be the recipient of a hug, after a few moments of Ruby hopping around.)

That's great! Thanks, Yang. You're the greatest!

(Ruby's happy expression kinda faded and she blushed a bit while glancing away.)

...Cardin could learn to endure the cold nights here, right?

(She remembers the training session he and Pyrrha had before the dance.)

[That just cheers her even more. Honestly, she really was missing this, even if her smile is jokingly confident.]

Yeeaah, I know.

[Her grin quirks at Cardin's name.]

Oh he'd be fine. He could keep himself warm with his gigantic ego.

[She laughs and then gestures down the street.]

Come on, I'll get you settled in...and see what kinda dog food they've got around here for Zwei.

[She glances down at the corgi fondly.]

(Ruby laughs at the mention of Cardin and his ego before nodding and following after Yang. She had a lot to learn about the town.)

Okay! Hehe, I'm sure whatever kind of dog food they've got Zwei wlll learn to make it himself!

(Zwei barked at that moment, catching up with the two girls and leaping nimbly to lick their faces one at a time while keeping stride.)
