2nd Growl: My pride hurts worse. [Written]

[The hand writing is very crude, and those who might know Lethe's handwriting might suspect something was wrong simply from that. It was almost as if a right handed person was writing with their left hand, or they were trying to write with their foot... or even holding a pen in their teeth.]

Does anyone here have the skill to mend broken bones?

[Donna's been feeling out of sorts, but this message captures her attention.]

Who is this? Where are you? I know a healer in town.

[The handwriting is much smoother now, but there is the occasional unexplained scribble.]

My name is Lethe, I am a Laguz warrior living in the communes. Fortunately I was able to seek the aid of of Doctor Naomi, who was able to remedy the problem to a fair degree. My biggest regret besides letting this happen in the first place, is that I shall still need to take time for this to heal. I appreciate your concern however.

[It's a minor relief to hear that Lethe is all right, even if it makes her reply pointless. Couldn't she have updated her message, or something? Donna pushes down those uncharitable thoughts. She knows she shouldn't be giving into them now.]

You're one of Nephenee's friends, aren't you? I'm Donna Noble. I live at the commune, too. How did this happen? Were you wandering around in the snow like a moron?

[All right, maybe she can't entirely pull the bite out of her writing.]

[Lethe wasn't exactly accustomed to how these magical parchments function, or the idea of common courtesy regarding them. Otherwise she might have actually gone and edited her entry. However, her attitude quickly sowers at that last sentence Donna utters.]

Yes... yes I am. Yet I don't see why that's any of your business human.

[Her wound to her paw was patched up, but the wound to her pride? Donna had just poked a stick at it.]

[Donna grits her teeth, knowing she shouldn't have written that.]

Me, too. I got hurt, too. My friend in town was there to fix it, though. He's got magic enough to heal up most small things. He's kind of a jerk right now, but I'm really trying not to be one.

Sorry. The weather's really been getting to me.

[Lethe sighed upon seeing her response, knowing she shouldn't have let herself get so easily baited... but at the same time...]

I apologize as well, it was rude of me to assume you were human, but more so to use it as an insult Beorc.

Beorc is what we Laguz call you humans when we are trying to be polite... just so you know.

[Actually it was mostly that word human was an insult, but that was besides the point.]

I rather suspect I was out in the blizzard for the same reason you feel agitated, I felt the need to get away from all the toxic emotions in the air. We Laguz are very sensitive to such things.

[That's an... interesting insult.]

I am human, but I'll keep the term in mind. Has whatever's in the weather not been affecting you, then?

Not making you annoyed, I mean. Do you know what it is? There was another person I met who mentioned spirits on the wind.

It's effected me... differently. As I said, I needed to get away, and as a result I believe I may have reacted... rashly.

[Not that Lethe wasn't already pretty rash to begin with but...]

I seem to recall hearing the blame being placed on windigos or beings with a name that certainly implies wind.

Windigos. That sounds about sinister enough, yeah.

By the way, when you acted 'rashly,' is this something we could fix for the future, whatever you hurt yourself on? I think we're going to have to do some significant repairs around the commune after all of this is over, anyway. Might as well get things that people are hurting themselves on out of the way, if we can.

What I hurt myself on is none of your concern!

[She's way too embarrassed to say that she'd curled her paw in on herself, piercing right through her own hand.]
