It actually does. You can blame us offworlders for that. First there was a robot who was here for a while stuck in pony form- a robot pony that is. Then some of the tech was introduced to Equestria by offworlders. And then there are at least a few offworlders who would normally be robots but somehow got stuck in organic bodies when they came here.

I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about big evil robots here, but we might be dealing with some fancy sci-fi-ish weapons if their holders turn against us.
