Three Cupcakes: Status Update

[Pinkie shows up on the scroll looking distracted, with smoke rising in the background. Considering she's supposed to be at a funeral right now, that's a little odd.]

Hey, everyone! If you're seeing this, that means you weren't just eaten by a giant artichoke-burny rainbow! So please answer this real quick so we can make sure everyone's still here? Oh, aaaaaaaaaand also a giant rainbow explosion just blew up all the artichokes to ask us for help, so we need to go do that sometime.

Oh, alr- ah!

[And so Pinkie dragged her along, bouncing as she sang. Neph did her best to bounch along, but with the surprise, she ended up -thud!-ing more often than not on the ground. Daisy meanwhile hopped right along.
Well, she certainly couldn't fault the pink pony her...enthusiasm.

Eventually, they ended up in front of a happy, brightly colored house. The decor reminded Nephenee strongly of the cupcake she had just had, though she was unsure why.]

So, what's this place?

This is Sugarcube Corner! I work here, and live here too, and THIS is where we make all the cupcakes and stuff! C'mon!

[Bouncing inside now]

[And so she followed the ecstatic pink filly in after brushing herself off outside, and looked around. What a cozy place. But the kitchen? When they came to the kitchen (at least, she THOUGHT it was the kitchen), she was dumbfounded by the gadgets and whatsits and doohickeys. It was a lovely place, with cabinets and counters the color of her mane, cute curtains...all in all, a nice place. But what the heck were these things?]

Wow...this is your kitchen?

[sailorlaughter]

Well, it's the Cake's kitchen, but since I work for them and live here and stuff, it's pretty much mine too!

[Pinkie certainly ACTS like she owns the place; opening the fridge, she takes out a tray of identical strawberry cupcakes and places it on the counter.] See, here's the rest of them! We'll probably sell them up front later, I think the display thing's full up now!

[Neph looks at the cupcakes, so perfectly pick and lovely, then up at the fridge.]

...What in Tellius is this?

[sailorlaughter]

It's a fridge! It keeps your stuff cold, see? [She opens it, letting a wave of chill air come out.]

[fenifilly]

[Nephenee stares. And then tentatively steps up to it. Sure enough, that is cold air.]

And you...store food in here?

[sailorlaughter]

You got it! It helps it to stay fresh longer!

[And she sticks her head in the fridge to look at it. Because she doesn't actually totally know how it works?] I'm pretty sure it's just like science or something.

[...what is this witchcraft science you speak of..]

...Science?

[sailorlaughter]

Yeah! Like with machines and bubbly test tubes and stuff! [Not the right pony to ask.]

all she needs to know is that baking and cooking is science for hungry people

[Sorry Pinkie, have the blankest stare.]

Sorry, Ah...ain't quite sure what those are.

[You Tried, Pinkie.]

Oh, it doesn't really matter! We just buy them like this anyway!

[fenifilly]

...They come cold?

[She sticks her head in. Yep, cold, colder than it was just standing beside it. Kind of feels like wind in it. Which makes her smile as she has a silly idea.]

Sure it ain't jus' got a bunch of small Wind Sages in it?

[...Neph, no.]

[sailorlaughter]

No, you've gotta plug it in first! So I guess it has electricity in it!

[fenifilly]

...Plug it in? Electricity?

[sailorlaughter]

Yeah! You plug the cord into the wall and the electricity goes in, and then you can turn it on!

[fenifilly]

[Neph is still looking around the fridge, before she starts to shiver from the chill air escaping, and wisely closes the fridge. She still looks flummoxed, though.]

But...what's electricity?

[sailorlaughter]

It's what lightning is!

[fenifilly]

Oh, so tiny Thunder Sages power it then.

[NEPH.]

Still sounds like magic. Back home we got folks that can use Thunder tomes an' call Lightning from the sky.

[sailorlaughter]

I dunno what a Thunder Sage is - we just get it out of the dam! I mean, pegasi CAN kick lightning down outta the clouds, but that's not where THIS electricity comes from, 'cause that would be a ton of work for them! A ton.

[fenifilly]

It's fine, Ah was jokin'. They're high-powered magic users, basically. But that's sure interestin'...wonder if we could get that sort of thing back home..

[She turns back to Pinkie, smiling sheepishly]
