When you take someone's life, it's a hard thing to live with, even inadvertently. The pain cycles. It might not be today, or tomorrow, but sooner or later, preventing pain will result in hurting yourself, and others.
A good man taught me that if you're going to save someone, you have to get hurt to prevent someone else's pain. It's hard, it's rough, but that's also how you make friends. You shore them up, prevent their sadness, or at least work to keep things from getting worse.
A dead person cannot reflect on their actions, and maybe... just maybe there's a reason for why you have to take a step like that.
So I get it. You wanted to prevent worse things from happening. I just don't know where to sit on that to be honest.
