Level 5: [Visual] Craft Ring/Brooch/Necklace - Metamagic Feat

Lucia Bolido, the Wizard of Harmony and reflection of Twilight Sparkle in her world, beams as she holds up a sun-shaped brooch. It gleams with a faint light of it's own, above and beyond the faint red of the dusk.

"Exciting news!" she says. "I was correct in my theory - Earthpony crafted items, filled with the magic of their Sigil-heralded craft, does indeed hold an enchantment well. If done with further enchantment in mind, it would do so exceptionally well."

"In discussion with the Great Blacksmith, and with his help - my comparing my grimoire to his - he was able to assist me in an enchantment that is normally beyond my power - one I hope to learn eventually from my own world."

"Behold - a Brooch of Sun's Grace!" she says, beaming. She pins it to herself as a cloak-clasp, and SHE is bathed in that faint light. "A sorely needed ward against darkness and more prosaic violence."

"My thanks to Miss Coco Pomell for providing the brooch, by the way." She tips her hat. "I would love to discuss working with you, and with the Rarities and Twilights and other mages, on further works of enchantment."

You're very welcome and I would be fine with working with you.

[She made a mental note to make one for her fashion line later.]

[She hasn't had that much experience making jewelry. Sure she's worked with jewels plenty of times to go on clothes, but making it from scratch is another story.]

If those same jewelry can be used in my fashion lines, I would love to learn how to make them.
shyformerassistant: (what?)

I know Miss Rarity. She was the one who suggested that I take up the boutique in the Night Market.

...Wait, commander? But she's a fashion designer like me.

[Either somebody didn't tell her about Dame Rarity's thing or she's forgotten.]
shyformerassistant: (nervous)

[personal profile] shyformerassistant 2014-06-24 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know that.

[That would kinda explain the "Dame" part, though she didn't really think about it much since she didn't know her Rarity very well back home.]

Enchantress sounds rather powerful.

[She nods.]

Both, as well as hats and those pins I made for the Summer Sun Celebration.

If you need help, I'm a goldsmith as well of fairly decent skill. I can probably make something out of the local minerals if you need more focuses. Sadly I've yet to learn how to make them enchanted but I can always make something with a materia socket...
kuposword: (Heh)

[personal profile] kuposword 2014-06-23 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Materia is the crystalline format of a piece of equipment - rings, staves, etcetera, compressed into a marble sized gemstone. It is the accumulated wealth of your own experiences imbued into the clothing and equipment you wear via a process called soulbinding. It was discovered by Illuminati scientists and given to Eorzea by a master called Mutamix.

I can supply materials as well. I'm a well trained miner and botanist and I can go hunting for resources.

[personal profile] kuposword 2014-06-26 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it was taken a while ago. And while I don't have materia ON me, I do have Relic weapons forged from Materia-enhanced items. You can still see them.

Hold on, let me see if I can't get a closeup of one of them.

[And she fiddles with the scroll activating its visual as she holds up the Artemis Bow she was playing music from.]

This was crafted from a bow imbued with two grade 3 materia that added to accuracy.

If you need help getting your hooves on gems, I have some small talent in that venture. Though I do not normally go mining, I suppose I may have to attempt that!
mistweaver: (excited)

[personal profile] mistweaver 2014-06-23 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall have to do so!

[personal profile] kuposword 2014-06-23 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a miner too by the way. I've got my pick here with my stuff.
mistweaver: (I need to think...)

[personal profile] mistweaver 2014-06-23 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I may need to ask you for raw ore--I can prospect it easily, but as I am skilled in jewelcrafting and engineering, I lack in theory of making bars from raw ore and such.
kuposword: (Heh)

[personal profile] kuposword 2014-06-23 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Fortunately I'm also skilled at making bars as well. So that shouldn't be much of a problem. Does your world only encourage focus on one discipline of the hand?
mistweaver: (Default)

[personal profile] mistweaver 2014-06-23 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Encouraged in two main professions, but we can choose to learn any secondary we like, really. I'm great at cooking, first aid, archaeology, and fishing, though I suppose only you might care about fishing, here.

[Still, Jou grins at that.]

So, I know jewelry and engineering, but not how to procure raw material for them, alas.
kuposword: (Huh)

[personal profile] kuposword 2014-06-23 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd be surprised, I'm rubbish at fishing. It's the only thing I can't stand to do for hours on end. But back home we have several Disciplines of the Hand and Disciplines of the Land. Cooking falls under Culinary Guild stuff, and I've done some archaeology aid with the Seventh Sons in Mor Dhona as a botanist.

We don't have an engineering profession, not yet anyhow. Machines are less common in our home but it sounds fun.
mistweaver: (amused)

[personal profile] mistweaver 2014-06-24 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends on the engineering! [Jou grins at that.] Goblin engineering tends to blow up. Gnomish is safer.

Though they have some very strange devices. Like the Poultryizer. That turns you into a chicken!
kuposword: (What)

[personal profile] kuposword 2014-06-24 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Into... a chicken... well that's certainly something. I hadn't thought engineering could do that.
weaponizedgems: (That didn't work quite the way I planned)

[Visual]

[personal profile] weaponizedgems 2014-06-24 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
[That most certainly got Dame Rarity's attention. She's studying the brooch as best she can from her scroll and contemplating both the style and the possibilities this presents.]

What other works of enchantments do you have in mind?
weaponizedgems: (happy conversations)

Re: [Visual]

[personal profile] weaponizedgems 2014-06-24 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Durable clothing is more of my style when it comes to enchantments and craft work. My own robe is made out of an enchanted clothe I wove myself. It may be white, but it reflects dirt and absorbs light. Rather handy in the battlefield.

I can also provide gems for any of the other items you wish to make.
weaponizedgems: (Come to think of it)

[personal profile] weaponizedgems 2014-07-01 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I can provide the emeralds and you can find out.

Hm.. Honestly, I haven't the faintest. Weather is not my forte, that is a pegasai area of expertise. However, if I were to suggest gems regardless, I might go with a blue topaz or a yellow citrine for starters.
