[Hello, scroll network! Here we have a bespectacled blue unicorn colt with a messy blond mane, sporting a classic wrench for a cutie mark.]

I'm assuming that shine means it's active? All right. I'll assume it is. Ah...hello, residents of Ponyville. I'm Billy, and from what I'm hearing I'm one among many unfortunate victims of a mass kidnapping and transformation.

[He's clearly frustrated by this, judging by the way his eyes roll.]

I'm guessing we have a lot of work to do to stop the latest threat and escape from here. So I'd like to offer my services---I'm a decent inventor and mechanic. Or at least I'd like to think I am. I'm still working on manipulating objects with this...form, but I've made progress!

[He precariously balances a wrench on his hoof, and a pile of odds and ends sits beside him. He never thinks to use that there horn.]

And while I'm here...if you have experience with interstellar travel, I'd like to talk to you. It's a personal matter.

I know a fair bit about interstellar travel. You'll have to narrow things down a bit.

What do you need to know? I've been around a very long time, [That's an understatement and a half...] I could ramble on for years... and never cover the same thing twice.

Are you aware of any wars that were going on involving beetle-like creatures destroying all life on planets?

I can't say that I have... but... What were you before you came here? From what I can tell, not everyone is from the same universe here, or even the same time frame.

I was a human living among people of all species from many times and places, serving aboard a spacecraft. We slipped in and out of various time periods, so I can't really say when it was in relation to Earth time.

[Skyfire blinks.] Time travel too? That adds a whole other wrinkle. Maybe... hmmm... What was the technology level when you started out? Where I come from humans are just starting ocean travel with some degree of reliability and are fighting with each other constantly. [He shakes his head a little and tries to think of ways to narrow down where and when they were both from.]

Fairly high. We used plasma cannons and energy shields, and our doctors could bring people back from the brink of death---even if there was little left.

[He tilts his head and thinks about things a moment.]

... I'm afraid I'll likely not be much help. I think we're likely from different dimensions... or at least very different base times. I'm sorry I don't know more.

---oh, base time? I'm sorry, I got carried away with something else.

[He laughs and shakes his head.]

In my time period, our healtbh care is effective, but many diseases are still terminal. We've only just started with computers, and the Internet isn't exactly widespread. And we don't have the best portable commuhication devices.

[Aside from the one he built.]

[He grins.]

You're still further ahead in time than I am... You came from earth?

Since I crashed there, I just kept to myself and tried to stay clear of humans...

[As lonely as it was, he didn't want to influence their evolution. Not that he could stop himself on occasion, but still.]

...were you a dragon, then, or someone else?

... sort of? I was Cybertronian... a mechanical based life form instead of organic.

When I crashed on earth... [He lets out a small sigh.] My systems malfunctioned and I ended up with a dragon like shape and completely modified internals. I really can't complain since it let me survive, but I'm not really sure what I am anymore.

[A pause and a chuckle.]

Well, I suppose I really am a dragon now.

Wow, I can't imagine how disorienting that would have to be.

Do you miss being a Cybertronian?

Yes, and no. I've changed a lot, and even if by some stretch of the imagination, I was able to get my old shape back and go home...

[He gets a wistful look on his face, that quickly gets wiped away by reality.]

After being gone for so long, it's not really home anymore. Anything that I knew is likely gone and aside from a few people I'd like to see again...

[Skyfire shakes his head and tries to chase the melancholy feelings away.]

Do you have a place to stay yet? [Attempting to change the subject? Yup.]

I know that feeling. I've changed enough that...I still want to go home, but I don't know if I'll be welcome there.

[He shakes his head.]

Actually, no. I'd assumed I'd go about finding work and hopefully find a stable for myself.

While I can't really offer a place to stay since I have a young filly staying here with me... If you're willing to give me your word that you'll give me some assistance with making a few things, I can front you enough for a food and place to stay for a week or two.

[While he wouldn't just give away the money that he's earned, someone's word was usually good enough for a loan.]

[Something occurs to him and he tilts his head a bit.]

I don't think you need to worry about sleeping in a stable... They mostly live in houses and such. There are a number of parallels to human and Cybertronian living that rather surprised me.

Huh. Ponies in houses...though in a society where they rule, that's probably not so surprising.

[He shrugs as best he can]

I'm resourceful enough to survive this, I think---it's nothing compared to war, really. I just need to know what's safe for me to eat. Cupcakes, apparently, but I can't subside on only that.

[Skyfire nods and starts writing a list of things safe for him to eat and sends it over. It's not long, but it should help.]

The list I just sent you should help. I had to learn to make sure Mani was eating properly.

[A pause and a small grin.] You'll need a job though... I'm just willing to pay in advance... or at least give you a no interest loan.

I know. I'll find a way to give you my best work once I have my supplies.

Alright. I should be there in about an hour or so... Uh, fair warning that I'm not a small dragon.

[Skyfire thought warning him what to expect was a good thing, right?]
