And stay down! Honestly, get back home and there's some kind of monster trying to eat me.

[The scroll floats down to reveal a pretty teenage mare with orange hair in an elaborate dress which shimmers and burst off. Before anyone can state "augh naked", Ako hairflips and replaces her glasses.]

Oh good, there's my scroll.

[And she rolls it back up.]

... Whaddaya mean "restored"? Did they get her?

Due to a process called Droning, a scanned person might revert to a stereotype of a 1950's person and remain as such for an undetermined time. We found out later that we could restore people slowly, and as a result a flood of people who were Droned or lost in the last few days permanently, since death was not permanent there save for a few times.

Mayfield was pretty awful almost all the time, yes. It was far worse than most places at any given moment. But be glad you're here and not there.

Not exactly. The recreations of people was a big thing it did, but I suppose we all have our own souls within the machine. There was a time when we thought the deadly milk of the town was fueled by souls though.
