01 Butterflies [Visual]

[Today's scroll is brought to you by a small brown rabbit, who appears very curious as he looks into it.]

Huh...these things are way weirder than the D-Terminals... [The rabbit clears his throat and smiles.] Hey everyone! ...Pony? ...Pony. Right. Hey everypony! My name's Choco. I'm one of Fluttershy's Digimon!

What are you doing?

[The brown rabbit, Choco, glances behind him before scooting over a bit, revealing a green and red dragon giving him a rather exasperated look.]

That's Sprout. She's Fluttershy's other Digimon.

Seriously? Here too?

She's just grumpy that coming to this world apparently changed our forms too. [He turns to her, though still keeps an eye on the scroll.] At least you're a dragon. I don't think I can do much of anything as a rabbit.

[The dragon known as Sprout rolls her eyes, then reaches for him.] All right, that's enough, bunny boy...

But I'm not done....

[There's not much he can do, though, as the bigger dragon picks him up and carries him off. As she does that, Fluttershy herself appears on the scroll. This close up, one can see the dragonfly clip in her mane, and she looks at the scroll with a puzzled expression, as though she's not quite used to using it.]

I-I, um...I'm sorry...about them. Ch-Choco was just...a little excited about following me home...but, um...

I-Is...something going on in Ponyville? Th-There...There seems to be a lot more ponies than usual, and...i-it feels like...

[She hesitates for a moment, not quite sure how to describe it.]

Has...Has something happened lately?

[Rainbow nods solemnly. All this has a faintly familiar cast, the usual nonsense of other worlds.]

But you made friends there, right? And had good times?

[Let's get 'Shy smiling again.]

[Fluttershy nodded.] Mm...I made a lot of friends there...and it wasn't always bad.

I...I don't regret being sent there....and I do like having the chance to go back.

[Or she did, until she came here.]

Lots of humans, I bet. For some reason, everywhere I went, most people who were there or showed up there were humans. Never other ponies, except some of you girls -- oh, and Daring Do, once, that was awesome!

Oh, Daring Do...? That must have been exciting! Did you get to talk to her?

Yes, they were...mostly human. Some had powers back in their world, though...and there were other beings too, like turtles and cats and...oh, robots!

She was one of the Instructors there! So was Princess Luna for a while, it was awesome!

[Rainbow almost takes off to do a happy little circle in the air, but that makes for hard scroll communication, so... later.]

Yeah, that was kind of what everywhere I went was like. Lots of different people, totally different, but you know, they were all a lot like ponies on the inside.

Oh wow...! What did they teach you?

[Fluttershy nods.] Oh yes...Getting to meet so many different people, I did learn that we're all very similar, despite coming from different worlds...

It's really quite fascinating.

I kinda missed both their classes... Daring Do showed up after I took her class, and Princess Luna was teaching theater. Which was super-appropriate, but not my style.

So I gotta ask... [She folds her forelegs with a grin, well aware she's about to tease her friend a little.] Was it easier to talk to humans than ponies, for you?

Oh, I see...

[She smiled shyly.] A-Ah...well...s-sometimes...when I thought of humans as another type of creature, it...made it a little easier...

Let me guess. Big baby dragons without scales or tails, huh?

[She laughed.] Not exactly what I meant. I mean, thinking of humans as I would my animal friends...thinking of humans as another species of animal...made it easier to talk to them. Because then they were just another kind of creature I was getting to know.

[Rainbow's own description is the closest she's ever come to describing humans without just saying human...]

You ever end up turning into a human? 'Cuz that happened more than you'd think it would to me.

Mm...When I went to the Digital World. All non-humans were turned human there....unless they were Digimon.

Oh wow. So it happened all the time then, huh? Pretty wild, isn't it?

[Rainbow wonders what 'Shy would look like as a human. Mostly whether or not she'd be taller than Dash herself was. How weird would that be?]

[She nodded.] Mm...we were pretty much human all the time...The only time we weren't was when there was a glitch in the Digital World, that returned non-humans to their original forms. But it only lasted a week or so...

Oh wow. All the time?

[That doesn't surprise her. Nothing surprises her any more. But it does make you think.]

Well, better you than me. I wouldn't want to be a human permanently. I'd miss my wings too much.

I still had my wings, actually...even though we were human, sometimes we had features from our original forms. This one girl had been a cat in her world, but even when she was human in the Digital World she had her cat ears.

And I had my wings...plus Rarity and Twilight had their horns while they were there...although they didn't have their magic.

Hmm..though come to think of it, Trixie didn't have her horn when she was in the Digital World...

Okay, that's new. [Though she does get a brief giggle out of imagining a human with a horn. How weird!] Every time I ended up changed, I didn't have my wings. And the one time I saw a Rarity that had been changed into a human, she didn't have her horn.

Really...? Not once...?

I guess the Digital World was okay as long as we were human-like...so we were able to keep some features from home...

See, most of the times I changed it was so I'd look totally human. That was why we even drank the potion that did it, back in Garden. Some humans who didn't know better thought we were monsters, so we had to blend in.

Heck, they made us be human for the ballroom dancing classes, too. Apparently it was too hard to teach a pony. [She rolls her eyes to emphasize how dumb she thinks that was.]

Oh, I see...I guess that wasn't really an issue in a world that had monsters. Though why it changed us to human-like forms at all still makes a lot of people wonder why it's necessary...

Hmm...maybe it was hard to teach ponies to ballroom dance with human partners...?

[Even she was trying to figure out how that works.]

Yeah, that's what they said. And I guess I didn't really mind.

[For some reason, the faintest hint of color has appeared in Rainbow's face.]

But it still made me mad!

[She blinked, noticing the slight blush on her friend's cheeks.]

Are you all right...?

Sure I'm all right! Why wouldn't I be all right?!

[Obviously getting defensive over it proves she's totally fine, right? Right?]

[Fluttershy tilted her head curiously. Nope, she's not falling for that, Rainbow Dash.]

Did something happen in one of the other worlds you were in?

Lots of things happened! Lots and lots and lots of things happened in the other worlds! Why do you ask?
