As the scroll turns on, it reveals a pink unicorn, her green mane pulled back in a ponytail and her ears lowered. She doesn't appear to be aware of the scroll, looking around in an extremely confused fashion.

"I...I don't understand...I was supposed to be at the Sealed Gate..."

She shrinks in on herself before continuing, calling out for her friends.

"Where are you, everyone? Edgar? Sabin? ...Locke?"

Something occurs to her then, and she stands a bit straighter as she raises her voice.

"I-is this the Esper World? My name is Terra! I was born here! Please, if you can hear my voice, answer me!"

As Terra lands from her impromptu flight, she transforms back into her...she's not sure it really counts as 'normal' but that's the first word to spring to mind.

...somehow, when she pictured a library in a tree, she expected something more like a child's treehouse. Ah well. Libraries are public places, right? She'll just open the door.

"Hello?"

[She is, of course, happier when someone recognizes that and doesn't knock.]

Hello, do you need any help today?

[Twilight is pretty certain she has never seen this pony before, and thus that the answer is "yes".]

Okay, what did that unicorn call herself?

"Tricksy told me if I wanted answers I should come here and ask for...'The Sparkled One'?"

[Just... yeah.]

That's me. Well, one of me, but I think I can save that for later. I don't know why she keeps calling me that.

My actual name is Twilight Sparkle. But if you're looking for answers, yes, you've come to the right pony. What questions do you still have?

Terra pauses, collects her thoughts, and starts talking.

"Where is this, why do I look like Unicorn, who brought me here, where are my friends, and..."

There is a long pause before her final question.

"...what am I supposed to do?"

[so she knew a unicorn... that just... called him-or-herself Unicorn? Uh...]

This town, as a whole, is Ponyville, in the country of Equestria. In all likelihood it's on a world entirely separate from the one you're familiar with.

You were brought here by an alicorn - a pony that looks kind of like me, with both a horn and wings - calling herself "Cálice" or "the Pale Pony". She is also responsible for your current appearance. I take it that this Unicorn you're familiar with was the only one.

Your friends, provided none of them are here, are exactly where they were when you were taken, and when you get back they won't even notice you've been gone because you'll return or be returned to when it was when you left.

As for your last question... isn't that something you should answer for yourself?

[While she would certainly appreciate the help if she were to pitch in against Cálice, someone asking for this much guidance...]

Terra sits silently for a while, taking that all in. When she finally asks a new question, her voice is very shaky.

"Can I...stop fighting? I don't...I don't want to kill anymore."

[marearcana]

[...what kind of life did this girl lead? she wonders.]

Then don't. You can do... well not anything you wanted, but you can choose how you live your life.

[terraburning]

"I can...choose?"

This is said with a tone of wonder.

Well yes. Honestly, I have no idea what kind of situation someone would need to be in for that to not be true, short of mind control...

Terra doesn't respond verbally, but the flinch at 'mind control' speaks volumes.

...which appears to be a touchy subject for you so I'll stop. Either way it broke somehow, so...

Terra waits for a few seconds for Twilight to continue before asking her next question.

"Is there..."

She trails off for a second, searching for the right words - the vocabulary of peace is new and strange to her.

"...is there...a place I can belong, even if I don't have a use?"

[marearcana]

There always will be. You'll have to forgive me if this sounds rehearsed, I've had to tell more than a few others something like this...

[But mostly Flare.]

You may not know what it is yet, but you have, as you put it, a use. As long as you keep doing something, no matter what, you'll find it.

[terraburning]

Terra sits down abruptly, overcome. As she thinks about that - she might have a use other than 'walking genocide' - tears start welling up in her eyes.

"T-thank you..."

[marearcana]

I don't know what kind of position you've been in that would've made it seem like that wasn't the case. You don't have to talk about it but if you want to, I'm here, and I want to be your friend.

[Although technically speaking that was true for just about everyone she wasn't already a friend of.]

...no. No, Twilight doesn't deserve to have Terra's life story dumped all over her. She's kind, and it would just be...cruel. Terra will just brush away her tears with a small application of telekinesis and stand up.

"I...am very grateful for your help."
