Second Flight [Visual] [Futuredated to 12/20 afternoon]

[Well, that was a thing. The scrolls open to reveal the older scarf-wearing Tails, with a confused look on his face. Last he checked it was the night of the 16th...]

... Didn't know it was possible to be shoved around from place to place like that. I mean, back and forth between the same two places. [He thinks for a moment.] See, before I came here, I was in a place called Kalos, in the Pokemon World. I suddenly woke back up there again, and now I'm here again!

How long have I been gone? What's the date today? [He was in Kalos for two and a half weeks...] Did I miss anything?

[This Tails feels a lot of relief. He had thought his other self had suffered the same fate as the others, but thankfully he seems fine.]

You were sent back already? That's quick. It took about two months for me the first time around to get sent home. And I've been home twice already. I assume you didn't remember this place while you were there?

You weren't gone that long, I think. Today's the 20th, it's supposed to be the last day of the Food Festival. I don't think you missed much other than Ponyville now has a local hot spring.

Yeah, it was pretty quick. And no, I didn't remember this place at all. I remember everything from there right now, though. It's so weird. ... Though there's a lot of new developments over there.

Huh. Only three or four days. [A hot spring? Now that's something he'd have to check out.]

I'm not surprised. The two times I was sent home, I had no memories either. It's certainly possible that might change if it happens again.

At least it wasn't a full week.

[He's thought about checking it out, but he was too busy with other side jobs.]

I'm just confused why I didn't remember here when I was sent back there, but I remembered there when I was sent back here. Why do memories even work that way?

I'm not sure either. It's pretty clear there's some time difference between here and other worlds, but it's not consistent. Not to mention random. I'm not sure how that affects memories to be more exact.

[He's locking this now for his other self's sake as he wasn't sure if he wanted ponies knowing about what happened.]

So what exactly happened when you went back there? Has Eggman done anything yet?

We actually just found out that Eggman might have been behind the last incident we went through. He's taking orders from someone else who wants to find their way back home, and offered to reward Eggman for getting that done. Of course, that means Eggman's using that to try and get himself home and strand all of us in Kalos.

[To be honest, tracing that call was so easy that this Tails is kind of uneasy about it.]

[True, the Pale Pony has a scroll too, but it should be safe in this case.]

That's not really surprising, but who could he be working for? It couldn't be anyone from our worlds so it has to be someone we don't know.

What was the last incident?

We don't know. The other voice in the call was distorted. Eggman's voice was pretty clear [though his signature laugh made it obvious either way...] and they were talking about the incident having failed.

Another dimensional portal had appeared that led to this dimension with graveyards - a being known as Nightmare appeared and started planning an invasion on Kalos. I was a bit reckless but I held him off and we sealed the dimension off. Two weeks later, everyone appeared in a nightmare world where everyone was dealing with their own nightmares but could leave and enter them as needed. So I went and helped Sonic, then we went and helped Fluttershy, then Nephenee, and then we conquered my nightmare that I had failed alone at.

Because of that, I'd been able to fully recover from one incident I never told you about... [And he tells the story about how Sonic got wiped from existence in Confuto Ordinatio, the attempt to save him that ended with Tails disappearing from CO, and how after he, Sonic, Fluttershy and Nephenee beat Eggman in his nightmare, the same Sonic that disappeared reappeared and gave him the green Chaos Emerald, which he still had when he woke up, proving that the mission had succeeded back then.]

That's disturbing.

He listened to the story. While he was disappointed at first that he was so reckless, but once he had explained why, he understood.

His heart sank when he had explained what happened to that Sonic, but at least he was able to be saved.]

Sounds rather rough. Glad you were able to beat him and that Sonic's safe now. Let me guess. You don't have the emerald with you, right?

Speaking of not telling stories... There's a couple stories I hadn't told you yet either, but they are both semi-related.

Back on the community, there was a couple times where the community would sometimes temporary kill people and then bring them back later. I've...died twice before due to two different viruses.

Was this before or after a certain vile prince who is lucky to go unnamed unleashed a wave of destruction and opened a crystal flower of concentrated death to murder the entire region?

... Er... what? [What?] I don't think there was any 'vile prince' there... there's a mad doctor there from my world that's probably trying to take over but that's about it.

Not that I know of. I'd only been there a couple of months.

[There's an audible sigh from Cecil and a shake of his head.]

...sorry. There were a few things I needed to set straight about him, and also, I might be trying to warn you to avoid him, because he's also kind of an asshole.

If I do hear of anyone named Lysandre, I'll be sure to let everyone else know what you said. [And he's taking it seriously, because you never know who could be trying to destroy everything.]

Good. I don't think he'd try anything now; he has a friend who's less interested in killing everything and who managed to talk him out of his cartoonish villainy, but it's important to stay vigilant.

You were gone for maybe a few days at most. You didn't miss much, maybe the last couple days of the food festival.

Coulda been worse then, I suppose. [Least he remembered to go to the Food Festival early!]

"Wait, Kalos? Seriously?"

"Yep! The Kalos region. Strange things have been happening though."

Mako grins.

"'Strange things happening' is normal for a Pokemon journey, really. Did your team come with you?"

"Like dimensional portals opening and evil overlords creating giant nightmare worlds to try and consume everyone?

Unfortunately they didn't seem to. They didn't come with me the first time I came, either."

"I was thinking more megalomaniacal terrorist groups seeking to manipulate people using a combination of propaganda, religious symbolism, and the threat of power, but sure, that counts too. Was it a Darkrai? Can't think of many Pokemon capable of creating nightmare worlds."

"It wasn't a Pokemon at all. Some being known as Nightmare. We beat him though."

"Well good for you!"

Slight pause.

"Oh, just realized - my name's Mako, I'm from Nuvema Town in Unova."

"Nice to meet you, Mako! My name's Tails."

Mako nods, grinning.

"What's your team like? Do you have a specialty type?"

Slight pause.

"...oh, sorry, you don't have to answer that. I just get a little nosy when I meet new Trainers; I guess it's because I'm new to being a Professor."

"I didn't have a specialty type, really. I just caught a bunch and had them travel with me. Many were out of their Pokeballs for a lot of the current trip.

"Wait, you're a Professor?"

Mako grins.

"Professor Linden, at your service! My area of expertise is the behavior of wild Pokemon. I've been thinking of setting up a research lab in Anville Town when all this is over."

Just one other place? You don't know anything about being bounced around. Try four! Five if you count this Equestria, since it's sure not mine.

Four for me if you count this Equestria. I've just been bounced around this and the last place I've been to. Haven't seen the first two places I've been to since I first disappeared from them.

I kinda think some of the places I was in...didn't survive. But they were real weird situations anyway.

I miss Garden, though.

I don't really know what happened to the other two I was in either but I hope they're both still kicking.

What kind of place was Garden?

The most awesome place ever! It was a flying mercenary school, where I learned all sorts of great stuff!

You'll pick it up easy enough. You just gotta not think too much about it. Once you let yourself go, it'll come naturally to you!

Yeah, I'm just training as I can. I'm thinking maybe in the future having something like... I guess an air combat training thing? Since that's something I need to learn here too.

I really gotta see if I can find somepony who can copy my Blaster Edge design. They're the perfect weapons for pegasi, they really are!

Back and forth between different worlds, huh? Lucky you. We never got to revisit the ones we visited.

I'm questioning the 'lucky' part, honestly. [Considering what he went through between when he left and came back.] I wouldn't mind re-visiting some of the earlier worlds I went back to as well, but I doubt that'll ever happen.

This Equestria would mark the fourth place I've been to. I'd like to go back to Confuto Ordinatio. It was a place that rested between all multiverses and you could visit any world you wanted.

Yep. I'm my own pony and so is 'Shy.

We've been to lots of different places. We're from a different Equestria than this. Then we died and went to Romania, then Lutie, then Port Island, then Manhattan in New York, then Shibuya. Then we ended up here for a while. Went back to our Equestria and became alive again, for some reason. Now we're back here again.

So the other one sharing your body is Fluttershy... If you don't mind me asking, who are you? My name is Tails and I knew one of the other Shys from Kalos. And how did the 'two souls, one body' thing happen?
