[There's a little yellow fox who seems to be having the hardest time deciding if he wants to actually be on the feed or not. He shifts back and forth, eyes never making direct contact, until he finally settles for half and half.

Is it true that this town pays tribute to a large dragon in exchange for their safety...? With everyone asleep this past week, it would make sense that payment would be...short, and I haven't seen anyone worrying about it...

Then again, I haven't seen any dragons since I got here, but they insisted they were one...

[He shuffles uncomfortably, still not looking directly into the scroll. How...how do you turn it off...? How does he end this?]

I'd simply like to know if we're all going to die...

There's mischievous and then there's malicious. All he did was laugh at me.

[She sighs a bit.] He can be a bit...um...not nice, sometimes. But he doesn't mean any harm.

Really, he can be quite sweet.

There was nothing sweet about our conversation. You may keep him all you want, I want nothing to do with him.

[She nodded. Well, you can't be friends with everyone.]

You don't...have to be friends with him if you don't want to. I was just saying...he's not as bad as he may seem sometimes.

But if you don't want to be friends with him, that can't be helped.

Friendship isn't really the issue, I only wish to avoid any further confrontations. Permanently.

W-Well...that might be a bit difficult to do if, uh...you make public posts on the scrolls...

W-Well...the scrolls are designed to send private messages...and can make locks so that certain people can't see them...

Though that does seem like a lot of trouble to do every time...

Mm...it just seems like you'd miss out on a lot of opportunities to make friends, if you're spending all that time just avoiding people you don't like....

[But it's so much easier to hide... Not that he ever enjoyed hiding, in fact if he had his way, he's probably be bumming it out in a crate right now...

With a defeated sounding sigh, Kafei disgruntledly looks away.]

I suppose you do have a point...

If anything...you can just ignore the ones you don't want to speak with...eventually they'll find someone else to talk to.

[His eyes grow wider at her suggestion as his gaze shoots back towards the scroll, like the idea of ignoring someone is brand new or unheard of.

N-No, it's okay...this is all still really unfamiliar and new...it's all part of learning how to deal with all of this...

You're right, again I apologize. It's embarrassing, but it's been a very long time since I've last been social... Hiding and avoiding my problems was always my first course of action...

[Huh... Now that he's actually said that out loud, it does sound pretty...dumb.]

[Fluttershy just offers him a smile and an understanding nod.]

Mm...I know how that is. I used to be like that too.

...Actually, I'm still like that sometimes. [No use in lying about it.]

But having friends really helped me face my problems instead of trying to hide from everything all the time...

[Kafei gives a small smile back; if we're being a little more open here, then he might as well make use of it.]

...I believe I know what you mean... I...did make one...friend before coming here. Yes, I suppose I could call him a friend... We haven't known each other for very long, but he was willing to help me with something incredibly important.

That's very nice...sometimes, even just one friend can make such a big difference in our lives...

I'll just have to remember that the next time things go south.
