[Applejack appears, but she's not really looking at the camera. She's holding her hat in her hoof, and her mane hangs over her eye. It's safer that way, because she's really about to lose control here.]

I know some of y'all are waiting to hear how it went, meeting her. Calice.

Well, we know a few things more about her, and we'll tell you what you want to know, but more important than that right now is...I failed a friend of mine. Two friends, counting Calice. Our words couldn't reach her, and she's more determined to fight us than ever.

Worse, Fluttershy---the one with the little digi-critters---she saved our hides, but Calice snagged her. She's trapped, and knowing what I know now....

I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry.

[Unable to say another word for now, she closes the scroll, about ready to cry.]

Well, that was weird. But Applejack was too tired to argue right now, hanging up her hat on the hat stand and crawling in next to her cousin. She just hoped the blanket thing would go better than it had with Rarity way back when.

"I'm not going nuts," Applejack said tiredly. "Part of me wants to do a dang fool thing, but...I still know that's not gonna help, and it'll just get us even more hurt."

"You won't do a dang fool thing, AJ, cause that's not like you. You're honest to your feelings. If you would completely do it, you would throw yourself directly into doing so."

Rolling over, Pinkie propped her head up on her hoof to look at Applejack. "You want to help, and that's admirable. We just need to really take it slow though. This isn't a race to see who can save Fluttershy. In times like these, we have to work together, and focus our efforts."

"Slow...yeah. But that's why I worry. I know we'll get ourselves trapped if we go too fast without a plan...but how long do we have until Calice finishes her tests and sucks her up completely? After a certain point, there might be no saving her."

She turned and buried her face in the pillow.

"I know we don't know how long it'll take," said Pinkie. "It's going to be hard, and I know a lot of people are acting so rashly right now. At this point, we need to believe in Fluttershy to pull through."

"I always said she was tougher than nails when she needs to be. I think this is the time she wants to save all of you from what she's going through right now."

"I know. I love her, and I believe...it's just doggone difficult to think about anything else right now. I can still feel the cold."

She might be a little blanket-hoggy. Sorry, Pinkie.

Blanket-hoggy? No problem! Pinkie'll hug you from behind. "Then you need a warm hug then. We're cousins, so it's totally fine to hug you to sleep. Right?"

Applejack froze, definitely not used to this. She closed her eyes, getting an odd nostalgic feeling.

"No one's held me like this since I was a filly," she realized. Back with her mother...gosh, that was definitely a lifetime ago. "But...yeah, okay. No force in the universe'll stop you when you're up to something, I know that."

She smiled. Yeah, she was giving in to the overwhelming Pinkie Force.

"I hope it's good memories then," said Pinkie, gently holding onto Applejack and giving her an affectionate nuzzle on the back of her neck. "Just rest up, and I'll have awesome food for when you get up. Okay?"

"They are," she whispered back, closing her eyes and letting herself feel safe. It still wasn't okay...but the love meant everything to her. She laid one of her hooves over Pinkie's for a moment, pressing it in thanks.

"And...well, I'll look forward to it," she trailed off, already sleepy. The warmth was definitely enough to lull her into the quiet.
