It seems like Mako's scroll has accidentally been unrolled at some point while she was attending to her morning rituals - she seems completely unaware that her form and voice are being broadcast. Currently, she appears to be chatting happily with Hampyre as she prepares a quick breakfast for Etranger.

"-pass me the milk, will you?"

As she turns around to receive a bottle of milk from the boar, her back - free of her normal black vest - can be clearly seen. There's a pair of long, jagged scars running down it, parallel to each other and clearly the claw marks of some massive creature. She continues speaking as she trots over to a small basket in the corner of the room in which Etranger is curled up, a small meerkat perched on top of her.

"So, Hampyre, I was thinking - Etranger's three now, she's probably old enough to attend school, right? I've been planning on moving out of the commune once winter's over, but do you think we should look into getting an actual house? It might be hard to get Etranger an education if we go back to living on the riverbank..."

...maybe someone should tell her the scroll's broadcasting?

Mako's voice turns considering as she muses to herself.

"...hm. Building materials, horsepower, various other expenses...hold on a second, please..."

There's the sound of something being written down as Mako goes over the necessary steps.

"...ah, you're right. It'd take me about the same amount of money to build something here from scratch as it would to buy or rent something in the town proper..."

"In addition, it would be a one-time expenditure, as opposed to a monthly lease contract. It simply involves a little hard work; something you've never struck me as adverse to."

Hain nods his head, slowly. "Of course, that's only if your sole reason for leaving is financial. If you find yourself displeased with the commune, then it is entirely your choice to act on that."

There's a slight pause as Mako stops writing.

"I...am not exactly used to living in a house again. I spent three years on a semi-permanent road trip, living off my winnings and the land itself. I suppose I thought if I was going to stop that, I might as well make a clean break of it all."

"Life as a pony isn't a clean enough break?" He offers a wry chuckle, shacking his head - though Mako naturally can't see that. "Only you can decide what you need to do; all I can do is offer suggestions."

"Not clean enough to change my habits, at least. I've been much stranger things than a pony, after all."

Slight pause, accompanied by the rustling of papers.

"But you've given me more options to consider; thank you for that."

"It's the least I can do. Were it not for your interest in changelings, I would have had quite the rough start here in Ponyville."

It takes a moment for the other part of what Mako said to sink in, causing the changeling to tilt his head quizzically as he asks, "...this is not your first time stuck in a form you are not familiar with?"

"Ah, yes - I think the last time I mentioned it in public was back during the first month of arrival. In brief, then - there's a tree in my home region called the Entree. By harnessing its power with the C-Gear and Xtransceiver, I was able to physically materialize things from the shared world of dreams and travel to other worlds."

Slight pause.

"Simply traveling to another world was enough to change my outward form; but if I undertook a mission to nurture the Entree I would be transformed completely - sometimes into a Pokemon, sometimes into a small child, sometimes into a middle-aged man."

"Interesting. Such undesired changes and you had no problems adapting? Perhaps you should have arrived here a changeling." It was a joke, judging by his tone, albeit a rather dry one. "This Entree... when you say it pulled things from dreams, do you mean a more pony-like individualized dream state, or a collective consciousness?"

"A collective consciousness, actually. I never really went in for that sort of thing myself, but there are a lot of trainers that actually specialize in training Pokemon they met in the Dream World. Personally, I was just content running a little berry farm and exchanging messages with other dreamers."

"Interesting..." Almost as if the night princess - Luna, was it? - was in charge of a changeling hive. Dreaming in unison, as opposed to seperate wakefulness. Then again...

"You are certain you are merely a pony?"

"Fairly sure, yes. You'll be the first to know if that changes, though."
