Twelfth Bolt (Visual)

*The background of this post is definitely Alastor's castle, but all that's visible in the shot is a strange creature that's oddly blood colored. Hanging around its neck is a sign that reads in type-printed font,

Hi, I'm one of Alastor's bloodgoyles.
I'm harmless, please do not shoot me.
(Ps. Blood given willingly.)

It waves a claw at the screen, gives a brief screech like a predatory bird, and the feed cuts out. So yeah, that's a thing.*

[Saori's just going to blink for a bit out of confusion. Well, this was certainly new.]

Bloodgoyles...And there's more than one. Uh, do they leave a trail of bloody prints? If so, I can't really let them in my tea house.
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

*The scroll turns to show Alastor, who is contentedly sipping hot chocolate.*

They only leave blood behind if they're hurt or hit something too hard. So unless I have them stomp around, they're not going to leave any kind of trail.

That's a relief. Blood stains are insanely tough to get out of wood. Not to mention I don't think the locals will take well to them.

Still, I'm surprised someone was willing to give up blood like this. ...The donor is alright I assume?

He's fine. It wasn't any more than somepony would give at a blood drive. And actually, he volunteered. I made an offhoof mention of bloodgoyles and he was curious about them.

Interesting...I didn't think anypony would volunteer. I take it he's an off-worlder pony because I can't imagine any of the locals with such a curiosity. I would offer my blood but I get the feeling it might not create a normal bloodgoyle.

Yeah, he's from a place where dark magic is a little bit more accepted than it is here.

*Understatement, Alastor.*

And I'm not sure it'd matter as long as you're something naturally corporeal. But seeing as bloodgoyles can split, I don't really need to make another one.

Huh and here I thought I just about saw everything from bouncing worlds every now and then.

Hmmm. Still there must be a limit to how many times it could split. Maybe in the future you could experiment with blood from a stronger than average corporeal being?

[Saori are you serious?]

Hmm that's right. My strength would be halved so it shouldn't be too dangerous. I hope.

Well, why don't you take your experiments with them one at a time. I don't think Ponyville needs an attack of them.

I wouldn't be too worried about that, they're not self-aware and all they do is act on standing orders. Think of them as something like exceptionally loyal guard dogs that can understand complex orders.

Whew, that's a relief. Still, I can't help but be a little impressed you got it to work so well.

[She maybe contemplating spending a day to see if she make her own smoke constructed creatures but nothing permanent. The commune has been getting crowded lately.]

*He gives the bloodgoyle a pat on the head and, true to his word, his hoof comes back blood free.*

It's actually a pretty common spell where I'm from. A lot of demons will create bloodgoyles to act as guards or foot soldiers, especially since hitting them up close just makes them multiply.

I see. That would give anyone a headache, that's for sure.

Is blood the only medium used to make such constructs back home?
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

This specific kind? Yeah. But there are also constructs made of pure stone and occasionally wooden marionettes will be used as vessels for demonic souls.
