(There's a confused pink alicorn on the other end of the scroll, turning her head as if she's looking for something in particular.)

Ponyville wasn't like this a moment ago...

(She leans towards the green dragon by her side.)

Aria? I think we went back in time...

(She doesn't seem to notice the scroll until a changeling paws at it and brings it to the alicorn's attention, who seems surprised by its appearance.)

Oh! Is this a magic scroll? A recording magic scroll?

(The creatures by her side don't seem very sure of the answer, so instead of question in, the princess of love composes herself and smiles.)

Well, if that's the case, then hello, everypony! I'm Princess Cadence. I'm not sure what's going on in this Equestria, but if I still have my Pokemon, then something must be wrong. I thought they were left behind in Johto...

(She shakes her head.)

In any case, I hope you're all doing well, especially you humans, if you're here, too. Switching from quadrupedal to bipedal isn't easy and I can' imagine the reverse is any easier.

(The princess laughs lightly.)

...That is if there even are humans here. I hope it's not another incident like the one in Johto...

Oh, well congratulations! Pokemon Professors work very hard to learn more about Pokemon. You probably know much more about Pokemon than I do, too.

There's a slight break as she angles the scroll to show a Timber Wolf lying down nearby, a baby dragon curled up on her back, and a red-and-black meerkat curled up on the dragon's back.

"From bottom to top - Lilligant, Hydreigon, Bisharp. Sigilyph is off on a flight, and my Emboar has a job at the Sugarcube Corner auxiliary site."

What a wonderful group of Pokemon! They must be so happy to have a trainer like you.

To be honest, I'm still figuring out how to help my Pokemon adjust to Equestria. I have one who wants to learn how to read, for example...

[etranger]

Mako brightens up at that.

"Oh! I can help with that, actually - one of the first things I did when we first got here was teach Etranger how to read."

Pause.

"Oh, uh, Etranger is the Hydreigon; she's sort of my foster daughter nowadays."

I'd really appreciate your help, Mako, and it sounds like you and Etranger have a very close bond with each other. Maybe Etranger can get along with Aria! She's a Sceptile and the one most interested in reading. Come on, Aria; say hello to Mako.

(Cadence turns the scroll to face the green dragon just short of Cadence's size. She mumbles a bit and rubs the back of her head. Way to put her on the spot like that.

Cadence turns the scroll back to her.)

Don't worry about her; she's a little shy.

"No worries, I'm quite used to that! It's a pleasure to meet you, Aria."

Mako smiles softly.

(After a moment of fidgeting, the dragon eventually waves at Mako.)

She'll come around; Aria's really nice around those she trusts.

"A lot like Etranger, then."

A slight pause as Mako thinks.

"If you want, we could introduce our teams sometimes?"
