As the scroll turns on, it pans over a complicated-looking array of pulleys and levers before revealing Mako, her mane mussed and hat askew.

"Hello! I've been setting something up, and I thought I'd broadcast the first attempt, see if it worked!"

With that, she turns the scroll back to the array, revealing that set within them is...a mirror? Humming softly, Mako places the scroll in a portion of the array and begins chattering as she starts to operate it.

"This is something I got in the dungeon before it closed up in April - a relic from my homeworld known as the Reveal Glass. I thought it might be interesting if I set things up to project what's reflected in the mirror onto the scroll, since...well, you'll see in just a few seconds, so why spoil the surprise?"

Indeed, the scroll has been manipulated so that the interior of the Reveal Glass takes up most of its available visual space as Mako moves around underneath it, positioning herself to reflect in the mirror.

"Tah-dah!"

On the scroll, a young woman grins confidently, her blue eyes sparkling merrily.

"No."

Very blunt, that girl.

"But then, it's not like anyone had friends from Equestria or other places before this, right?"

[kuukai]

... Hmm.

Okay, well, I guess it's fine just in case. Tha's kinda a useful tree ta have.

[etranger]

The reflection nods, smiling.

"Got that right! And it'll be nice to meet someone other than one of my dimensional counterparts with it, too."

A pause.

"...I guess the logic behind that is that you're always friends with yourself?"

[kuukai]

No, the logic is that you're always friends with yourself.

There's a difference.

[etranger]

...wow, Mako was not expecting that. Deep waters there. Better step carefully.

"...would you be interested in coming over to try out the Reveal Glass sometime?"

[kuukai]

...

[ Shrug. ] I guess. Where are ya?

[etranger]

"We're on the commune - look for the house with the giant eagle on the roof. This all is set up in the little shed behind the cabin."

[kuukai]

Okay.

[ She'll fly in a few minutes later and look around for Mako. ]

[etranger]

There is, indeed, a giant eagle on the roof of a house - it's easily larger than Celestia, although only by about one pony-length. As Kyouko flies in, it tilts its head in her direction and then indicates the Shed of Truth with one wing.

[kuukai]

[ Um, okay, giant eagle... thing. Kyouko stares at it for a couple seconds before entering the Shed. ] Mako?

[etranger]

The pink pony cheerfully waves hello.

"Hi, Kyouko!"

[kuukai]

Hi.

[ She walks carefully over to the mirror, frowning at it but not looking into it yet. ] This is it?

[etranger]

A nod.

"Yes."

[kuukai]

[ Kyouko looks into it. She sees her old self reflected -- human, still rather short, but with hair she misses a little and hands that would be sort of useful. She sighs. ]

Yeah, okay. Tha's me. Doesn' really tell me anythin' but there ya go.

... Hm. I look exactly the same. No scars or nothin'.

[etranger]

Mako trots over and looks in the mirror herself, the reflection showing her human form peeking over Kyouko's shoulder.

"Huh. Height doesn't really carry over well as ponies, does it?"

[kuukai]

Nah. Swear it's like we're all the same size sometimes. Which is small.

[ It's as if the animators for the show they're in took some shortcuts ]

[etranger]

Mako chuckles at that.

"Truth. It was kind of surreal for me, at first, talking to people and actually being able to look them in the eye."

[kuukai]

A lot about this is surreal.

[ She takes out a Pocky and chews on it. Her human reflection does the same. ] Damn. It's weird, I almost forgot what it's like bein' on two legs all the time.
