As the scroll turns on, it pans over a complicated-looking array of pulleys and levers before revealing Mako, her mane mussed and hat askew.
"Hello! I've been setting something up, and I thought I'd broadcast the first attempt, see if it worked!"
With that, she turns the scroll back to the array, revealing that set within them is...a mirror? Humming softly, Mako places the scroll in a portion of the array and begins chattering as she starts to operate it.
"This is something I got in the dungeon before it closed up in April - a relic from my homeworld known as the Reveal Glass. I thought it might be interesting if I set things up to project what's reflected in the mirror onto the scroll, since...well, you'll see in just a few seconds, so why spoil the surprise?"
Indeed, the scroll has been manipulated so that the interior of the Reveal Glass takes up most of its available visual space as Mako moves around underneath it, positioning herself to reflect in the mirror.
"Tah-dah!"
On the scroll, a young woman grins confidently, her blue eyes sparkling merrily.

*Also the only ones
animal friend didn't work onhe really had trouble with. Also also he doesn't have the best of experience with attacking plants.*
Do you have a lot of that, animals that can spit fire or control plants or, uh...affect water somehow?
*Water just seemed like the logical next thing to go there. Possibly in some sort of rock-paper-scissors way.*

"The eighteen elemental types are Normal, Fire, Grass, Water, Ground, Rock, Bug, Flying, Fighting, Poison, Electric, Psychic, Dark, Steel, Ice, Ghost, Dragon, and Fairy."

Hm, but wasn't he two of them when he was that bird-thing.
"Or two of them, was that the limit or were there three or four or however many combinations?"

"Ah, so they formed a religion based around something really powerful. I get it."
Tribals would do things like that sometimes, sometimes he could see why and other times it was just a lot of wtf.

"I've never gone in for that, personally, but my perspective is...a little different from the norm. If you want to get technical, I'm a religious figure, as the chosen champion of Zekrom, dragon-god of ideals."

Alex's look hardens; he's dealt with a religious figure before and it didn't really go all that well.
"You don't have an army or nation, do you?"
Because then they might have problems.

"Mew, no! What would I even do with something like that? I mean, all I really want out of life is to live peacefully with my Pokemon and pursue my research!"

"So no proclamations to your followers or commandments or anything? That's probably for the best."
