*Someone's feeling down to earth today...by which the narration means Alastor currently resembles an earth pony rather than a batpony. His eyes aren't glowing either, and he's dressed rather like a priest. It's hard to tell if his ears are still oversized, though, because they're flat against his skull.*

In case anypony was wondering what it's like being an inanimate object, it's really kind of unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend it.

Lyra, um...do you mind if I stay with you for a while?

I'll recover. I just need a bit more rest and time to shake off the cabin fever.

*He calls it cabin fever, but really it's traumatic memories. He just doesn't want to admit to how much of a personal nightmare it is to be trapped in that sword.*
