26th Lance ↟ | Morale Fades [Visual]

[Shortly after Rise comes to her and they discover Cirno's disappearance, with a pained spirit, Nephenee picks up her scroll, thinking of how to best to announce it. Ultimately, given her own struggling to stay calm visually, she opts for voice. There's a bit of silence before she speaks, but her voice is quiet when it begins, full of hesitation.]

Um...everypony? Ah...

[A sigh.]

Ah jus' wanted to let folks know that Cirno's gone. She..vanished sometime this mornin'. Ah jus'...hope she's back in her world or...that she comes back soon.

So...please forgive me if Ah ain't myself for a bit....

...Does...anypony mind if Ah an' Daisy, Amara, an' Astra stay with 'em...? J-jus' for a bit..? It...feels real empty here without my sisters...

[That's all she's willing to say for the moment. She's going to hide in her secret tree in the woods for a bit.]

[Nephenee blinks, hot air from her snout hitting his scalp as she tries to figure out what that means.]

Whatcha mean?

[This is a dangerous game they're playing. This is a time the truth will not set him free. In fact, the truth will probably make her squeak loudly and drop him.]

I mean I'm only feeling the urge to grab you and start kissing you till your eyes cross, now. No thinking necessary there.

[So there's half of the truth, and not the half that should really surprise her at this point.]

[Don't underestimate the innocence there, Morg. Just because she should expect it...]

[Half joking, half serious. Don't burn the chocolate!]

Oh, well, I can't even risk that. I know where I stand if you have to choose between me and chocolate. [Morgan winks at her. He's only teasing; he has absolutely no doubt where he REALLY stands.]

Well, ya'd really be in trouble if ya was made o'chocolate, then.

[Completely, blissfully, unaware of anything untoward about this, she takes a few hairs from his mane into her mouth, gently tugging on them.]

Nom nom nom.

[Neph why.]

[Well. He can either sit here, melt into a puddle, and then have to explain to Neph why he's going to go home and spend an hour in the shower, or he can get revenge.]

[So Morgan quickly cranes his neck out to capture some of her mane in his mouth in turn.]

[Oh! Well. Uh...That makes her feel very, very funny, in ways she's not used to. In fact, it makes her feel so funny she quickly stops tugging, thoroughly distracted by his counter.]

[Careful Morgan, you might have to hit the reset button if you tug too much.]

[Nope, once Neph sort of goes to jelly, Morgan stops tugging. He figures his point has been made. After all, the only reason HIS knees aren't weak is his greater experience with the sensation in general...]

[Woo-wee! What a funny rush that is...pardon her while she finds where her brain skittered off to, Morgan.]

[Shaking her mane once she got some semblance of consciousness back, the mare nickers softly.]

N-no more hair-tuggin'...we'll burn...the chocolate. An' a few brain cells.

Normally I'd say it would be worth it, but... I'm afraid that if I so much as imply that burning chocolate might be even faintly acceptable in any circumstance, you'll break up with me.

[He's mostly teasing. MOSTLY.]

[Since the brat has the nerve to joke about that, she overcomes her stupor long enough to bop him on the head and give him a dirty look. Well, a not-entirely-serious dirty look, but one none-the-less.]

'Cuse you, Ah'm pretty sure nothin's bad enough to make me do that. Chocolate's nice, but if Ah had to choose, Ah'm pretty sure we both know what Ah'd pick, an' it's in my hooves bein' a brat.

[Morgan looks back at her with a thoroughly innocent and inquisitive look.]

What if I burned chocolate while saying that lances were overrated?

[See this face, Morgan? This is such a 'bitch plz' face.]

Ah'd say Ah figured ya were bein' a brat an' remind ya o'the time Ah knocked ya on your ass because ya underestimated what a good fighter can do with a lance, even that close up, an' that they're used against you sword users for a reason.

[Neph rarely curses beyond 'horsefeathers', so he can be sure she's going for effect here.]

An' you're datin' a gal who can fight an axe user with lil' trouble, so close range ain't a problem at all.

[She'd long ago passed the point where the technical disadvantage a lance had against an axe was negated, after all.]

They're useful as both melee an' ranged weapons, 'specially chained like mine, keep the enemy further away than a sword or axe, minimizin' risk o'damage, an' are quick as their user, equally made to pierce an' slash. Oh, an' the end's effective to hit anyone behind ya.

An' all without a hint o'magick.

So Ah'd say lances are rated perfectly well.

[SHOTS FIRED. He wants to be a troll? She can troll right back!]

[Morgan regards her for a second as he considers all his possible responses to this sudden outburst... but really, there is only one he could ever act on.]

[Morgan pounces at her like his butt is spring-loaded, the better to grab her, pin her down, and kiss her till her mane frizzes.]

[What, you thought you could say something like that and get away with it? Nope! But of course, his response makes her squeak much like a chew toy as she goes down, and it's not long before her hair resembles a Pinkie Pie's, if it was a really humid day.]

Whoa...h-hi..there...

You are the best.

[He means that from the depths of his heart. More than she knows, though she will someday. But she really, really is so wonderful he can barely handle it.]

[Only your dorky boyfriend would get turned on by being sassed, Neph.]

[She's just going to give you a very confused look, now.]

W-what am Ah the best for now?

[After all, he keeps saying things like that. It's hard to tell what he means it for sometimes!]

Your fire. Your spark. [He manages to say that much with tender and utter sincerity before he cracks a smile.] And you know, the million zillion OTHER reasons you're the best.

F-fire an' spark?

[Sorry, you shot down brain cells, Morgan. Up to you to revive them with an explanation. The latter still gets her blushing bright, though, and habit has her hiding behind bangs.]

A-aw naw...j-jus' a country girl...

Lancer, Sentinel, commune leader, girlfriend... One who lives life to the fullest, and who makes a point of bringing others joy too.

[She challenges him? He responds, with all the love in the world for this girl. Not that she has the slightest idea...]

[Not in the least! But the way he says that, even she can sense the care behind it, and it brings a bit of pink into her cheeks. And maybe even an absent, flustered pawwing at the floor as she hides behind her waves.]

A-aww...i-it's jus' what A-Ah do...Ah mean..Ah spent 'n-nuff time b-bein' sad when Ah was young...A-Ah don't want that to..to happen to others...ya know?

[No hiding, Neph. Morgan brushes aside her mane to get a good look at her, resting one hoof on her cheek with a smile.]

It's wonderful, and you're wonderful.

[Part of her really wants to brush that off, but the less self-effacing side wins out, albeit with more blushing.]

...T-thanks...that...m-means a lot, comin'...from ya...

[A bashful smile on her lips, she looks at him from the side, then down for a moment, the very image of demure. Then she darts in to give him a shy, quick peck on the cheek, before going back to looking down and away. The kiss is almost over before it began, it's so fast.]

Y-you're a sw-sweetheart...ya know that?

You make it real easy! All I gotta do is tell you the truth, and luckily, that's pretty damn sweet.

[Ahhhhh, what is she supposed to do with you, Morgan? She isn't sure why, but him saying that makes her hide again behind bangs and hood, and make some flustered pony noises. In fact, that's all she can do for a moment, before she points a hoof at the chocolate on the stove. Don't forget it!]
