[There's been a new face around today, for what could be seen of him considering the mask and cloak he wore. After arriving he had spent a great deal of time looking around and getting used to walking on four legs; the wings, which at the moment were underneath the cloak, would wait until later.

He had also done a little poking around with the scroll, and watching other ponies go about their business. And at the end of the exploration, all he really had was one question, so he opened up the scroll to ask.]

I get that magic can do a lot of things. But how exactly do horses build things without fingers?

[It certainly is easy enough to find. He takes a few moments to just drink it all in, and then he headed up the steps to knock on the door with a hoof.]

[The door handle glows a bit with magic and opens of its own accord. The inside is rather plain at the moment, consisting of only the bare minimum of furniture, all bought from NEIGHKEA. If nothing else, it's clean and orderly.]

[Celestia calls out from a room further in.]

Come on in~! Would you like some tea?

[He looked around as he walked further inside, nodding lightly in approval. Looked nice.

His head turned at the voice.]

Sure! That sounds alright.

Make yourself comfortable. I'll be just a moment.

[Soon after, Celestia emerges with a pot of tea, a couple cups, and a hip flask all on a tray, which she sets down on a table in front of the couch.]

Here. This is a mixed berry tea I got from Zebfrica. Tart, but surprisingly good with cream and sugar.

[He finds a place to settle down, taking a moment to point his head down and slide off the mask with one back foot, shaking his hair free.

He sat up some as Celestia returned, and he smiled.] I'll try it with cream, yeah.

Normal cream or Bearlies?

[She opens the hip flask. The contents smell like cream, but dangerously alcoholic.]

[His nose wrinkled a bit at the sudden strong odor, and he recoiled some before shaking his head lightly. An experimental sniff toward it, then he nodded once.]

I don't mind trying that one. [A bump of his hoof toward the flask.]

[She pours some in each cup, then floats one up for Daniel to take.]

That is an interesting mask you have there. What is it for?

[He studied the cup for a moment, then gingerly took it with his hooves. Huh.]

Oh, this is a custom from the village I grew up in, for battle. Kinda like a war mask, with a lot of tradition to it.

Interesting. I prefer my hat, personally, but I can see the usefulness of a mask. You grew up fighting, I presume?

[He was taking a sip of the tea while she spoke, which certainly was an interesting reaction. A shiver traveled down his spine and he shook it off after a moment, coughing slightly.

One eye squeezed shut because it was watering, he looked up with a nod.]

Yeah. I lived in a village of Chaotic hunters, learning to fight the monsters to protect everyone else.

[You know, once you get past the burn, it doesn't taste half bad. He takes another sip from the cup, albeit somewhat gingerly.]

[Celestia can't help but smile in amusement at his reaction. She should probably feel bad about giving a kid booze, but it wasn't much, and it's not like there's much trouble to be had around here.]

Are these monsters common in your world?

Sort of? [A troubled flicker goes across his face.] They're showing up a lot more than they used to, though...

I see. I would suggest keeping up with your training here, in that case. Your skills could prove surprisingly useful with the myriad of entities wanting to take advantage of our somewhat compromised position here in Equestria.

Don't you worry, I don't plan on stopping my training at all. That's about all I do at home, and so far I haven't heard a reason to do any different here.

In that case, you are free to use the equipment I have set up in the basement. Just remember to clean up when you're done.

Standard fare. Target dummies, weights of various shapes and masses, some gym equipment, a small wind tunnel for flight practice, and a little something of my own invention for reflexes.

Right. You mentioned something about entities, I guess that's what you're referring to?

In a way. There is more than one trouble plaguing this land, and you can never know when one way rear its head. In the past, we have had a number of invasions by hostile entities from varying sources. It has been quiet as of late, but that is only more reason to be ready.
