23 Pizzas [action]

[He'd been working and working, and finally, work was paying off. And - given the time and current circumstances - now was a better time than ever to implement what he'd started. The generator and he and Pollo'd worked on was ready to handle it, or as ready as it would be. There were still things he could do - that fun expedition into Diamond Dog territory needed to be done for future upgrades and fixes - but for now?

Nearly every off-wordler - and those native ponies he knew to be trustworthy - will now find a box-like object in their mailboxes or on their doorsteps. Those who already had them will find a slightly-improved version of their previous objects on their doorsteps. And, as with the prior one, a test image flashed on the screen before any other function was opened. There were also instructions on how to access the various communication functions, as well as filters.

They can't replace the scrolls. Don knows that. It would be too suspicious.

But here was to hoping they all worked properly to start.]

[That certainly was a peculiar device Violet found at her door. And she knows she has to be wary of strange objects left for her, but she can't help her curiosity as she picks it up.

After reading the instructions, she starts it up, hoping it will call the one who left it for her in the first place.]

[Violet perks up a little when a connection is made, but then squints into the device. Doesn't look like anyone she knows.]

Hello...?

...Appears so.

[She can't help turning the device over again, getting another look at it (sorry about the moving shot).]

So you're the one who left this?

In the future, you can deliver packages to me by burying them with a fish.

And of course you'll have to water the package plant.

HEY! Thanks for the cool phone thingy, Don! Do these things have names yet? 'Cause I think we should call them iDons!
sailorlaughter: (Let them have cake!)

[personal profile] sailorlaughter 2015-01-02 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
'Cause YOU made them, and i is what you put in front of stuff to make it sound cool and technology-ish!

You could also name them Shells! That'd be cool! Like hey, lemme get on the Shell and call Don real quick! Oh, but then we'd have to make them look more like seashells! [GAAAAAASP] It'd be like a disguise.

[Most people, upon receiving a new technological marvel, would immediately put it to use. Billy thinks about doing it: he certainly admires the design, and it's a neat surprise.

But he's a tinkerer at heart, so the first thing he really does is take it to his lab for a dissection. After a few hours he thinks he understands it and knows it's safe, so he spends another hour pulling it all back together. Then and only then does he activate it, almost sure he's hit the creator's number.]

Is this your work?

It's incredible work. I'm sorry---I couldn't resist looking under the hood, so to speak.

I'm assuming this is to keep us independent of monitoring from the outside?

Of course. But do you believe there's any chance they could be tipped off by the wireless signals? Not that that technology's native to Equestria, but we've introduced all kinds of things from off-world that they might be savvy to.

[Excuse Andrew, he'll just be opening that up to see how it works and playing around with all the filters. If he can make a cell phone into a time phone surely he can...well, put it back together without making any changes, what with these being the only things in this universe that use wireless signals anyway. Don (and others with the devices) might get a few staticky bursts of sound and light sent by accident while he's messing around with it, but he doesn't make any deliberate calls just yet.]

[OOC: Feel free to ignore.]
