[It seems like a rare shot, coming from a scroll in the middle of the street as someone had put down a bag in a hurry. The cause of this however was a fire in a lower downtown Ponyville house. One thing lead to another, and because of timing, a simple house fire grew into a blaze. Fire crews were already there and a weather team was dumping water on it.

It seemed like it was all in control.

And then the front of the building exploded.

Crews howled to get the watching civilians back when a stallion in fire truck red stumbled free from the blaze.]

Starwing is still in there! [He howled. That was enough for the owner of the bag as a familiar mare charged headlong into the blaze despite the fire crews trying to stop her.

Moments passed, and then there was another blooming fireball. The painters house had caught fire on the flammable paints when suddenly, a large figure erupted from the house, smashing through the flaming debris, clutching onto a soot-stained fire department.

All you could see, filling up the area was a giant symbol poking out of a wrecked set of burning clothing as a huge body stumbled free, smoking from many places, and clearly still on fire as the owner of the enormous hoof climbed free from the burning wreckage.]

[Well that made sense. A lot of the superheroes she heard about were pretty well off.]

Yeah. There's been... some trouble in the past, since he used to be a weapons manufacturer. And I think there's some craziness with this weird heroic morality flip. My world's been kind of on the brink of upheaval again.

Really...? What do you mean, "morality flip"?

Like it sounds like. Some heroes are acting really mean, and even some villains are acting, well, normal. I'm lucky enough to be on the fringe of that though. The worst of it was when there was a minor problem with the Inhumans but that got sorted out.

Oh geez. Why are they all doing that?

[She knew that it was possible. Her dad said that some heroes weren't always the nicest. But that sounded way worse than anything her parents told her.]

I think its some weird outside influence. I don't know what's going on, and since Wolverine died a few weeks ago, people have been incredibly tight lipped in the hero community. Even the hero blogs and tweets are really silent on what people are calling "Axis".

Huh...sounds like a pretty confusing time.

[Violet had no idea what that was like. Well, she knew what it was like to go through personal hardships, but nothing like that.]

Yeah, it's kind of odd in itself. I'm not entirely certain where things are going back home though.

Geez. And I thought things were bad back home.

Happens around people with powers I suppose. Sad to say.

Yeah, so I've heard. Never had too much of a chance to find that out myself until recently.

Yeah. So um, if you don't mind my asking, how long have you had yours? Just curious really, I didn't get mine till a month ago.

[That has her blinking a bit.]

I was actually, uh...born with them.

[Did people just get powers?]

Born with them? Wait, did it come in during puberty or just from the beginning? Indulge me on this.

[She wanted to figure out where Violet sat on the "classification" list. There was a lot of differences in their worlds obviously.]

Since I was a baby. It's pretty easy to tell if a baby is born with powers.

...Well, most of the time. We all thought Jack-Jack didn't have any powers until he developed them later.

Huh, that is really different. In my world there's various kinds of ways to gain powers or to be born with them. Lately there's been an upswing of Kree children being born to mixed parentage, but there's also some like Inhumans, the people I'm from, Mutants who come into powers during puberty and others who gain their powers through various means.

[Kamala grinned a little.] You must have quite the supporting family if you've had powers all this time.

Huh...that's interesting. There's only one person I know who's ever tried making his powers...and he wasn't exactly a good guy.

[She shrugged a bit.] It wasn't really a big deal. Everyone in my family has powers.

A whole super-family? Must be nice. My family's pretty normal, if you call my own culture normal though.

It...has its days. Trying to deal with my younger brother's super speed isn't always so fun.

... does he do pranks or just really annoy you at times? I've got an older brother who seems determined to protect me from all the "evils" of the world.

Both, usually. And he knows I can't catch him, which is extra annoying.

Bah. We're two of a kind I suppose, even if my brother doesn't have powers and I do. He's constantly driving me nuts.

I think it's just a universal law that family is supposed to drive you crazy one way or another. It's just how they do it that differs.

[Kamala laughed at that, shaking her head.] Yeah that's right. I guess it's a constant after all.

At least it's not too bad usually.

Yeah...could be worse, I guess.

[She's not going to say she kinda missed Dash's antics, but...]
