[Zetta seems completely unconcerned as he lounges in his throne, waving a hoof casually at the scroll.]

So somebody blabbed my plans already, but that minion-mimicking minx got the basics in one. You guys are losing power left and right, but I -- I, Zetta, the most badass freaking Overlord in the entire cosmos -- have it to spare!

So, how can you get a piece of my might? A slice of mana power all your own? [Zetta rubs his forehooves together in delight.] You join my team, of course. Become my loyal minion and I'll give you power. Add it to your own or replace what you lost, I don't care.

...Seriously, you guys haven't stopped this weirdo yet? You're slipping. Anyway, offer's good starting now!

[Much as she hates to admit it, she's scared. And tempted...because if they fail, there's no rainbow to fall back on this time. But like heck is she swearing anything without a few questions.]

And what, exactly, would being your loyal minion involve?

You know, the usual. Doing my bidding, assisting my ultimate takeover of Equestria, light housework or gardening... occasional guard shifts for appearance's sake... Airship staffing as needed...

[It's hard to resist rolling her eyes, but she reminds herself that this is serious.]

I've got a farm to run if it survives this. Am I still gonna have time to do my job?

Hmm. [Zetta scratches his chin with a hoof.] I think we can be flexible. Plus my girlfriend will kill me if I mistreat you. So long as this doesn't become some crapass farming minigame!

All right.

[She heaves a sigh.]

Look, I'll be honest. That eclipse stunt really messed with my head for a while. But Twi and Rarity trust you. The princesses trust you. And if anypony other than them has magic powerful enough to match his...it's you, I'd guess.

Please. He's a tiny pathetic little worm compared to me. [Zetta buffs his hoof on his fur, then looks over it at her.]

I wouldn't have done all that stuff if I hadn't figured out that whether I like it or not, we're all in this together.

Right. Our bonds are what keeps us strong, and if you've got them...then I'm coming too.

[And she knows it's his honest truth---that despite the evil ambitions, he's an ally. She takes a deep breath and nods.]

Well, show on up when you have the chance and I'll have a word with the Dark Senate about your joining.

[And since she knows the way from that trip to the tree scar, she does---after a good hour of sneaking around to avoid Tirek's line of fire. At the gate, she calls out.]

Lord Zetta? It's Applejack, here about this minion contract business.

[Three changelings pop out of the door in a stack like you'd see looking around the corner in a cartoon, then scramble to escort her inside to the throne room.]

[Zetta himself is lounging on the throne, reading a comic book, which he quickly tucks away when he spots the incoming visitor.]

Hyaaaa ha ha ha ha! Welcome!

[Well, that was...efficient. Applejack's a little unnerved, but she has a purpose here. This is important.]

Thank you kindly. Now...I'm guessing you and your senate get to judge whether I could be a minion worth your time.

Oh... uh, it works a little different than that. See, the Dark Senate -- [Zetta points to a unicorn with a sign around his neck that reads SENATOR] --votes to approve the addition of new minions into the party. However, they're contrary beings, so without a lot of bribes, the vote fails.

[Zetta motions to the unicorn minion, who looks at Applejack, then Zetta, then cluelessly shakes his head.]

Now, my bill has failed in the Senate, but since this is Netherworld politics, there's another option: Persuade by Force.

[Zetta whacks the minion upside the head.]

Hyaaa ha ha ha ha! Bill passed by force!

[Wh...at? This is making alarmingly little sense to her. Applejack tilts her head in bewilderment during this process, then pulls back together when it seems he's ready.]

So that's that. Now I look over what I'm signing away, right?

What? No, you're just agreeing to be my minion. This isn't some blood-on-parchment deal. When the hell did I ever come off THAT manipulative?!

Oh. I thought this was more of a formal thing. So...I just accept?

Yep. That's all there is to it.

Then you got it.

[Deep breaths.]

I'm your minion-gal.

[She shifts from foot to foot, wondering what happens now.]

Hmm. I like how you said that. Kinda sexy.

[Zetta grins as he absently waves a hoof at her -- and in the gesture, passes off a dollop of mana power like a flood into her.]

...I don't know if Rarity will want to hear that.

[All thoughts of that fade as that foreign strength slams into her. She taps her hoof on the ground to test---it's unexpectedly forceful, she'll have to adjust that.]

So I'm just gonna hit harder? No funny other side effects?

Hey, it builds off of your own nature. If you're a brawler, you're brawl better. [Zetta shrugs. How should he know what form it would take?]

All right. Thanks, I guess.

[She lifts a hoof in wonder, feeling out what she can now do with it. Could she buck five trees at once? Worth a try after all this, she supposed.]

Then I've got friends to help, unless I've got any other minion work to be doing?

[The look on her face says he'd better not.]

We can discuss that later. Right now... you do that thing. [Zetta makes a vague gesture with his hoof, not really willing to directly encourage her to go help friends. He has an image to uphold, after all.]

I'm on it. I'll be seeing you later.

[She nods, adjusts her hat, and she's off---back to the fray, and into this weirdness.]
