[This year's Nightmare Night was, to those who willingly dwelled on such things, a tiring time. With the battle finally coming to a close and the evil that is Nightmare Moon defeated once more, the biggest thing on most pony's minds is getting a good night's rest before facing the aftermath of last night's events. Jack Skellington is not most ponies. It's technically morning now, mind you, but only barely, and you're all treated to the image of one very weary-looking bat pony idly browsing the scroll network, a crumpled bumdle of papers held under one foreleg.

Well, that... could have gone much better. But! It's all behind us now, and we're already on our way to patching things up. It will be a long road, I won't deny. People... ponies have been hurt, some of them in ways I couldn't begin to understand. At the end of it all, though, I think we'll be able to look back on this not as a vile catastrophe, but a vital stepping stone towards the future.

[He shifts a little, starting to gesture with the papers.]

And speaking of the future, I do have some very compelling ideas for next year's festivities.

Going out to fight in that battle. Applejack was really mad when she found out that Nozomi and I snuck away to fight.

The way you put it, it seems very reasonable of her. You look much too young to be going off like that.

To most people I would be. But I've been a warrior for going on two years now, so I know my way around a fight.

Is that so? And for that long?

I do wonder what your parents would have to say about this.

My real mom's a queen who is probably aware of this, papa is evil but I know my other self will eventually free him from Noise's power, and papa Marvelous knows that I'm a warrior and he endorses it. Pirate Captain after all.

Hmm. This is... well, it's quite a bit to take in, you understand.

Your 'other self', you said?

Yeah, it's a bit of a long story. I'm basically a recreation of Ako Shirabe, and all of her powers. It doesn't bother me as much anymore, but I hold all her memories, if not the same parents at the given moment.

Well, that seems like a rather complex home situation, to put it lightly. Have you had much contact with your, er, 'real' family?

Nope, not for at least a year and a half now. It's okay, I've learned to live with it. Being digital, I don't know if I could even return to my own world outside of Mayfield without specialized help. Like the rainbows that brought me here for example.

So there have been other phenomena similar in nature to this one? An intriguing concept. Have any of the other 'visitors' here had similar experiences?

So far, my sister Nozomi, one of the Applejacks, and one of the Twilights I know of are from the same place as I am.

All of this alternate self business seems very confusing. And raises some very disturbing questions, I might add.

Though I think there's something of a novelty in being able to meet yourself.

I'd imagine so. It seems like something that I wouldn't mind doing actually.

A chance to see yourself from a different perspective, all your virtues and vices made clear from an outsider's point of view. It sounds almost romantic.

Though there's always the chance of an evil twin, but I highly doubt that's an issue.

I think evil twins happened like once in Mayfield's past, but I can't be sure. It's been a while since I had to think about that.
