[Seems like nobody's favorite investigator decided to do some digging on his own into recent events.]

Attention, everybody. [Oh hey, York. You're looking... grim. At least you've finally got one of your precious smokes on hand. Or in mouth.]

It appears that the Shadow problem we've been having lately has come to something of a head. A Shadow, posing as a dark-blue unicorn with golden eyes and grey hair has recently, probably within the past few days, murdered two of our own at the commune: his host, Pollo, and a yellow pegasus, Bertie. This is a warning that the Shadow is armed and actively malicious. He has last been seen wielding one of the scythes from the commune.

I'm not sure if Shadows are normally able to act if their hosts have died, but if that's not normally the case, then proceed with extreme caution.

[He's free to contact over the scroll, but anybody that wants to meet him in person is probably going to find him prowling the commune for more information.]

[Liz still looks pretty shaken by the whole thing, but she tries to mask it to talk to York.]

So he hadn't relapsed after all...

Has this sort of thing happened before?

Pollo, he's...well he told me that he used to be that shadow, more or less. A machine tartarus-bent on destruction and death. I knew him back then. At least, in another dimension I did.

His name is Mechakara.

Mmm. So, Pollo's shadow is a manifestation of this darker side.

That's a... pretty significant secret to hide. The question is, how do we deal with him now?

If possible? Kill him.

... he's a shadow, though. I'm not sure that's possible anymore.

There was a scroll post yesterday saying that the shadows need to be accepted by their hosts, but... considering everything, that might be a bit hard.

Well we may not have a choice. Otherwise he'll just go after everyone who's gotten in his way before. And everyone Pollo cared about.

... it might be better to try and find the source of the fog, then. If the fog lifts, then the shadows might lift with them.

Is traveling through the fog any better? I had a light and could barely make my way around. He could jump someone easily through that. And any of the other shadows!

That's the problem. With the weather conditions, there's no way to reliably track him.

This is a pretty dire situation, and I'm not going to sugar coat it, but something does need to be done. There's no telling if the fog will lift naturally, or if something needs to be done.

[The sigh that York lets out isn't... defeated, more than it's worried.] It's a dangerous situation no matter what.

[The name Pollo sounds awfully familiar, and soon enough Arcee finds herself in yet another rage. That was the poor robot she was terribly rude to, wasn't it? Well, this certainly doesn't help her opinions when it comes to--]

I fragging knew it. Nothing ever good comes from human-made bots. I can't believe I didn't do anything--

[And the cat ranting continues. In reality, Arcee's more upset over the fact that people here actually died. She was hoping to get away from that...]

Arcee. [... nope, that didn't work.]

Arcee! This isn't from the robot himself, this was from his murderous dark side that this fog was bringing out.

Does it matter? These things are supposed to be parts of people.

Parts exaggerated to unrecognizable levels. What might be some slight resentment could turn into an all-out rage. Hidden sadness becomes a miserable wreck. Blame can't be assigned when it's nobody's fault.

[Someone still looks pretty angry, breathing heavily as she tries to calm herself down. She just wants any reason to blame the robot, but here York is trying to make sense or whatever. Ruin the moment why don't you?]

So what're we supposed to do about it?

[Suck it, Arcee's unbridled rage. Calm heads will always prevail.]

Be warned and act accordingly? Other people, Yu Narukami and Yukiko Amagi, know more about the overall situation, but this is just a general warning about a new wrinkle in the whole situation.
