Twelfth Bolt (Visual)

*The background of this post is definitely Alastor's castle, but all that's visible in the shot is a strange creature that's oddly blood colored. Hanging around its neck is a sign that reads in type-printed font,

Hi, I'm one of Alastor's bloodgoyles.
I'm harmless, please do not shoot me.
(Ps. Blood given willingly.)

It waves a claw at the screen, gives a brief screech like a predatory bird, and the feed cuts out. So yeah, that's a thing.*
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

Live through enough movies and you learn the cliches. Besides, you don't get to be a high-ranking and well-known lord of Hell without a habit of watching your back and keeping a backup plan and an escape route or three handy.
callmeyork: (This doesn't look good.)

[... wait a sec.] "Live through" enough movies? Surely, you don't just mean "watch" in that regard, do you?
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

*He loves confusing people with that.*

You'd think that, but no. Before I came here, I was in an alternate world that existed on the other side of the silver screen. Every movie ever recorded on film was real there, or at least as real as any of us are.
callmeyork: (Excellent.)

Sounds like a dream come true, right Zach? [He waits for a second, then nods at a response from... nobody. Great.]

If this kidnapping ability is somehow harnessed on our end, I'd love the chance to see what it's like within a movie. Even if it's just from an observer's standpoint.
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

*Hey, he's a telepath. He's not one to dismiss the possibility of silent communication.*

There's magic that can turn a movie screen into a portal into Movieland. I haven't tried it here, but back home I could come and go at will.
callmeyork: (*smile*)

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
... if you do, do you think I could help? I have a particular interest in cinema, and I've been considering something of a film festival for Ponyville.
superstylishsquid: (Uh-huh interesting.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see why not. Just be warned that Movieland can be a dangerous place. Not all movies are happiness and sunshine, after all, and the last I knew there was a particularly nasty villain who could move freely between the movie worlds.
callmeyork: (Smokin'!)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm well aware. Though, "Movieland" sounds a bit cheesy, doesn't it?

... well, if you were to try the same thing out here, would you need the film that villain's from, or is this more of a generalized warping issue?
superstylishsquid: (Sorry but you're not funny.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I didn't name it.

And it's strange...the villain isn't from any film I know of. He just showed up after Jadow was disbanded and started trying to ruin the endings of every movie he got into.
callmeyork: (Here's what I think)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe he got left on the cutting room floor and got jealous of all of the other movies being produced without him. [Said without a scrap of context.]
superstylishsquid: (Uh-huh interesting.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
*Snort.*

Maybe, it is possible that he's from a movie that was never released that I haven't encountered in person before. That would definitely be the less unsettling possibility.
callmeyork: (*p: This is my game face.)

Another Alan Smithee project, no doubt.

What's the guy like, anyway?
superstylishsquid: (Is that supposed to impress me?)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you know, typical over the top evil overlord. Calls himself the Black Emperor and dresses like a shogun in black armor. Wants to rule the world, erase hope, blah blah blah.
callmeyork: (Smokin'!)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's not even all that original of a name. No wonder he got canned.
superstylishsquid: (Uh-huh interesting.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
But for a guy ripping off pretty much every B-movie ever, he's actually a pretty serious threat. There've been a lot more near misses for the heroes with him than there ever were with Jadow.
callmeyork: (*p: Call me York.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like it'd be an interesting meta-plot to a series of movies where I'm from. Must be interesting to be the one forced to live it out.

What's this "Jadow" you keep mentioning? Some kind of non-specific version of "Shadow"?
superstylishsquid: (Is that supposed to impress me?)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
It's never a dull moment, I'll say that much.

Jadow is the name of the evil organization I used to work with. The hero took down our Almighty Leader a little while back, after I handed i a rather last minute resignation, and the Black Emperor popped up right after that to found Gedow. And whaddya know, I'm pretty sure I'm the only ex-Jadow that didn't sign up.
callmeyork: (*p: *smile*)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Forming "Gedow" right after "Jadow"... again, not a whole lot of creativity in this guy's arsenal. Must have been a mockbuster team backing him up.

Ah, so you're the "reformed villain", then? The once rival that changed sides to defeat the bigger bad?
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Still rival, actually. I just decided that evil waaaasn't really my thing. I'm not actually on the hero's team, but I help him out every now and then when he's in over his head.
callmeyork: (This is my game face.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, gotcha. Just waiting in the wings to see if the protagonist screws up.

... who is the protagonist in all of these movies, then, if it's not you?
superstylishsquid: (Is that supposed to impress me?)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
A guy called Viewtiful Joe. He's actually from the real world, but he keeps it low key enough that I haven't been worried about it. Not too bright but his heart's in the right place and he knows how to handle himself in a fight.
callmeyork: (Smokin'!)

[Visual]

[personal profile] callmeyork 2014-05-06 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like your standard hero protagonist, then. I dunno, it sounds like your movies would be interesting to watch on their own. Would you consider adding them to the festival lineup, if you've got them around?
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

[Visual]

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2014-05-06 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. I've been watching them with a few friends, anyway. Though I have them as a TV series on film, not a proper movie.
