Kickoff [Video/Massive Audio later]

[A green pony with a matted down brown mop-top appears on the scroll. From the furrowed brows, flared nostrils and fierce grimace, she does not appear... pleased.]

WHAT THE TARTARUS IS GOING ON HERE!?

[Taking a step away from the scroll would probably be a good idea...]

I can't even begin to count all the things that is wrong here! I mean, at first I thought this was a dream but then when somepony actually pinched me -- WITH THEIR MOUTH NO LESS -- I knew that this was actually real. Talking ponies? And the ones with wings? EVEN ONES WITH MAGIC HORNS?? I even saw one that brought in a raincloud! IT WAS RIGHT ON TOP OF ME!!

[She takes a moment and her hoof comes up to scrub off her hair and her face.]

Alright... you know what... considering everything else I have seen before a world of talking ponies is actually not that out there. And, hey, at least my fur color is one that I'd like. Just, in this case, I hope my friends aren't here to have this happen to them.

Also, I have to ask just one question...

Why couldn't I have been one of those cool ones with the wings?

It's a lot to take in, I've been in that position too when we first got here. I couldn't even leave Yu-kun's side because I was so scared.

[Those were the days...]

But yes, we have been turned into ponies and other creatures native here. As for this place, it's called Equestria and the town we're in is called Ponyville. There are lots of puns that would make Teddie's look like a cakewalk.

[Yu gave a nod in agreement at that; Yukiko pretty much nailed it with that explanation, but...]

That's the mane problem here.

It's relatively quiet here, except that... well, things happen every now and again.

[In spite of herself, she found that she was scooting closer to Yukiko. It felt right. Even if she was much bigger now.]

[She gave a flat face to Yu that she (almost) looked as nonplussed as he normally did.]

Yeah... and you're heading over to the Crystal Kingdom, yeah? There's a big game thing going on over there and Teddie and Rise are waiting for you.

And something about a Pale Pony that's threatening to gobble up everything? Have you guys found out anything about that thing?

[Gathering info from talking to people: Chie's specialty.]

[It's okay because Yukiko was putting a hoof on one of Chie's own for support.]

The Pale Pony...I guess you can think of her like Izanami. She's this world's version of a death goddess but she eats everything instead. There's a group in Stalliongrad trying to do research on her and the artifacts called the Elements of Harmony. They're supposed to be pretty strong actually.

[Yu gave a nod at that.]

Supposedly those that disappear from this world have been eaten by her...

[Cue an actual grossed out face, because both he and Yukiko had disappeared from the place... though he swore he had returned back home. This was getting too complicated for a world full of multicolored ponies.]

We've been here for... almost a year straight, though we were here before briefly.

[Chie was starting to feel comfortable. Comfortable enough that her eyes started to droop. She was half-way sleeping when suddenly she heard something which alarmed her.]

You've been here for a year?

[Sure, she heard that earlier, but... A WHOLE YEAR? AS THE PONES SHE SAW IN FRONT OF HER? SWEET IZANAGI.]

[A sage nod.]

It was around April when the Pale Pony started bringing us in, right around when we both were in the middle of fighting Adachi. We were only here for about a month before being sent away by rainbows. But then a few months later, I came back and we had just watched Yu-kun leave Inaba. So time is really weird here.

Yeah... and I came back here about a month later, just after getting on the train.

Time doesn't seem to make much sense, but at least no one on our worlds notice we're gone.

...boy you're telling me. That was back in March. You guys are missing a whole two months.

It's May now.

Er... 2012. I guess. If you lost a year somewhere in there, too.

Has anything happened that we should know about?

Geez you guys... [She never thought their age would be something she'd have to worry about, ever.] If you guys think I'm going to call you my senpai, you can forget it.

Well, there was one thing you guys might want to know about. If you've been gone for that long you wouldn't have heard of The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena Competition?

[Aw, but he would have liked more people calling him senpai, and it would have been cute coming from Chie.]

Competition?

[Don't start Yu. Yukiko now possesses the ability to kick your flank from here to the Crystal Empire without her persona.]

I haven't heard of that. What happened?

Uhhhh...

...how long did you say this trip is going to take?

[Subtext: this'll be a while.]

[Yu rested his head on Yukiko again, as if to say, "We're listening."]

It's in the far North so it'll be a few hours.

[Yeah, Yu's pretty whipped and took the girl's position in the relationship. Whoops.]

...hey, look at you guys. [Because watching people is sort of Chie's specialty.]

When did this happen?

[What did she mean by-oh...that's what she meant. On one side was Chie needing comfort due to how new the world was and Yu was cuddling on her other side so it was like a sandwich. THIS WAS HARD OK?]

W-Well, it started back in December. A week before, there was a fog that came in and surrounded Ponyville and the Everfree Forest...exactly like the one from home. There were even Shadows running around and hurting others but a lot of us managed to gain Personas in the process. Yu-kun got really tired after everyone knocked out his Shadow and I made him stay in bed for a few days after. He asked me out after I shoved him in bed and we've been together ever since.

[Chie apparently realized this and moved away from Yukiko. Something about placing her head on her just didn't... seem right.]

Okay, so, wait. I think we've established that I really don't know anything about the date anymore, so when you say "back in December," that would be... how long ago, exactly?

About eight months ago; it's August now.

[...actually, he's sorry; Chie just arrived. Bestie snuggles were more important, especially when he could snuggle with Yukiko any time he wanted. He lifted his head, scooting over a little.]

It's been that long? Surely doesn't feel like it. It would be a full year in October that we've been here...

So what was this competition back home?

Right right... okay... so settle down. It's going to be a long one.

[So Chie starts plainly. About how when Yu came back the Midnight Channel popped up again and how Teddie, Rise and Kanji disappeared and that nobody knew what was going on. Then that they checked on the Midnight Channel that night and saw a commercial for the P-1 Grand Prix.]

[Chie also mentions that the titles were seriously goofy, pausing a bit because her own title still smarted.]

[Of course, when Chie paused like that, it only served to pique Yu's curiosity. He tilted his head, curious.]

What were they?

I... uh... forgot!
