IIIII'm... just going to start assuming that is normal for you and not ask any questions. Because I'm pretty sure I won't like the answer to any of that.

[At least as far as Kyouko's body and soul being too separate things, at any rate. Just thinking about it is already making her upset.]

Where did you go?

's not normal for me ta start lookin' like a zombie but this was sorta a special occasion.

I already told ya 'm not talkin' about it here. Ya wanna ask questions, I'll be at the forest tomorrow.

[Not taking questions. Got it. Though being told off frustrated her immensely, she knew better than to keep pressing at this point.]

[But there is one thing that she's going to have to ask, especially after seeing just how horrible she looks right now.]

Are you going to be okay?

[The energy in that question was entirely different, soft and kind. Even though they had only met a short while ago, Chie couldn't help but feel concern for her friends. And seeing her friends in such a way... hurt her something terrible.]

Time heals all wounds. Some faster than others.

[ She says dully, still scribbling. A pause. ]

... So, yeah. I think so. I dunno.

[ She puts down her quill and struggles to her feet. ] I gotta go meet 'im. If ya wanna talk tomorrow I told ya where I'll be.

You better believe it. And you better tell me what happened.

[A pause as she uses her leg as a sleeve for her eyes.]

Take care of yourself, okay?

Yeah. [ In answering both questions. She gives Chie a farewell nod before rolling up her scroll.

Kyouko will be in the vicinity of the forest the next day, her smell preceding her. (It's better than it was last night, at least.) She's making long paces back and forth, eyeing the forest warily and keeping watch out for anyone who might approach her. ]

[She said she meant to go see Kyouko. But her resolve had weakened when she woke up the first day. Visions of the pony with a half-decayed party haunted her in her dreams. Just what had happened? Yet her desire to find out was equally matched by her dread to have that answer happened.]

[But she knew she had to be brave, for Kyouko's sake, and for Teddie's. Whatever happened... she will need to know. So it was better she got it out of the way and find out just what the hell were they dealing with.]

[ Chie would find Kyouko in a rare moment not walking up and down the forest barrier. Instead, she was just sitting by it, scribbling in her scroll. What it was about was anyone's guess. ]

Hey. [ She nodded. ] So. Ya got questions?

Yeah... [Chie's movements were slow and deliberate. Though she didn't realize it, she was approaching Kyouko with the anticipation she had when she was about to face a shadow. Hmn... was she really that uncomfortable with this.]

So spill. The whole thing. Where you came from, what you were doing... [Her eyes fell.] ...why you didn't tell anybody.

[Before she kept going she let out a sigh.] You don't owe me any answers or anything. I just really want to know.

I told everyone I'd give answers. Jus' not over the scrolls.

[ She stops walking, settles down, and crosses her hooves. ] So, one: Jappleack and Minako and I went into the Pale Pony. Two, she was lookin' ta give ponies messages, Minako an' I were jus' there ta help and maybe take the Pale Pony down a peg. ... Turns out tha's probably a really bad idea, not that we won't keep tryin'. We barely made it out, an' we got some information out with us. We hope. If we can read it.

[ She pulls out the USB stick and shows it to her. The only thing that made it back with Kyouko and Minako. ] But three: it wasn' all of us that went into her. It was just our souls. An' my soul gem keeps my body goin', otherwise this happens I guess. So my body had some time ta get nice an' decomposed.

[ She looks away. ] I shoulda said somethin' but I didn' know we'd be gone a week in Ponyville time. It felt like a coupla hours. Thought it'd be an afternoon away from work at most...

So... tha's why.

[Okay, yeah, she got all that. And all things considered, it sounded like Kyouko did the right thing... well, aside from attempting to attacking a gigantic monstrosity that everybody seemed powerless against. But hey, if she got yelled at for every time she and her friends did the same thing, she'd probably have lost hearing in one of her ears.]

[She still didn't like it, though.]

[For the moment, the green earth pony just... lowered her head, narrowing her eyes to the ground.] And you're body is okay now? If the Pale Pony came by today, would you go and fight?

No. [ She says flatly. ] First of all, I wanna get the stick workin' first. Secon', my body's not healed yet an' usin' magic on the Pale Pony would drain my soul gem, an' that's the last thing I need right now. If I get killed just a day after Jappleack and Kreutzer and Pink sacrifice themselves, it doesn' mean anythin'.

Two days from now? You bet your buckin' ass.

Damn. [And Chie sat on her rump.]

I so was hoping I could hit your dumb face with my fist... hoof... ARGH...

[She just would have to content herself with punching the ground instead.]

Ahh, forget it. Ya didn' care tha' much.

[ Kyouko watches her punch the ground. ] Ya really got tha' much energy, I'll take you on day after tomorrow.

[That did it. Chie didn't want to hurt Kyouko, really. She just wanted to vent out her frustration out on her. But if she couldn't do it physically...]

What the hell do you mean, "I don't care that much?!" Of course I cared, idiot! Why do you think I'm so mad?!

You know, I've only found about that crazy psycho thing a week ago, and already I could tell you that just trying to get near that thing was suicide! So when I hear that my friend is going into it for some half-baked scheme, YOU CAN BET YOUR FLANK THAT IT'S GOING TO PISS ME OFF!

Yer fr-- [ She nearly chokes. ] We've- we've barely talked! We just know each other through Teds! [ Glare. ] Ya only care cause he does.

[Oh no. At that she stands up. Eyes into hers. This is a battle face, Kyouko. She's not going to back down. The Pale Pony couldn't shake her with a look like this.]

Say that one more time, I dare you! I don't care if you are a half-decomposed corpse. I'll deck you one if you don't think I consider you a friend!

[ Kyouko glares at Chie for a long time before finally dropping her gaze. ] Fine. We're friends. Get outta my half-decomposed face. [ Weirdest friend-making ever. ] Geez, ya really overreact a lot, don't ya?

Only about stuff that's important.

[She paused though, looking down on the ground. Doubt was starting to creep in. Did she over do it?] But... if you don't want to be my friend, I guess I'd understand.

S'not... dammit. [ Why is this so hard? ] Course I wanna be friends.... s'just I don't get how that'd work if we don' know each other that well.

[ She paws idly at the ground, wishing for something to eat. ]

That's because you're overthinking things.

[She stand up and then offers the biggest, dumbest smile to Kyouko.]

You're right, though. I do like you a lot because of Teddie, and Teddie and I are friends. Which is not to say that we have to be, only that I know him pretty well and he wouldn't be friends with anybody that won't treat him right. And put up with him. And get him worried so much that he was minding the store with the look of a person that lost a piece of his heart.

So, if you mean that much to him, I suppose that means I should try to get to know you a little more. And you've been good to my friends.

So if I'm going to go through all that effort, and I already like you for the stuff you have already done.

Wouldn't that make you a friend?

Oh... [ Her face falls. ] Buck. He did? Ahh...

[ Well, now she feels even worse. ] I mean... yeah, we can get ta know each other, we're both stuck here anyway, so...

[ She gives an embarrassed half-shrug and attempts a smile. It almost works. ] Sure. Okay.

[ She sticks out a hoof. ] ... Friends, then.

[ At this rate, maybe she'll have more friends than she expected by the end of her time here. ]

[Hoofbump!] Friends.

I'm still gonna punch you for being an idiot later, though.

[She also gave it a moment thought.]

Oh, and chances are I know a few other guys who wants to be friends with you, too. Fair warning.

The friends thing... less used to. ] Uh-- huh? Who?

Friends of Teddie. You might have met them already. There's Yu, Yukiko, and Rise, not including myself.

And there's also a big guy named Kanji, a real brainy one named Naoto, and a super whiny bratty guy named Yosuke. I haven't seen them here, but with the way this world works it wouldn't surprise me if they were here once before but left by now.
