It wasn't easy, I can tell you that...especially for Supers who just couldn't stop being heroes.

After a sudden change like that? [He wound the subject around in his mind, and then shook his head.] I kinda can't blame 'em. I'd probably keep going around doing heroic stuff, too.

Yeah, but after fifteen years, you think it'd be easier for them to settle...

[That might just be a touch of bitterness in her voice. Just a bit.]

I dunno, I still see why some would wanna do that. I mean, that's not right, what the government did. There's gotta be better ways to go about dealing with that kinda problem than just, shutting everything down!

Well...it wasn't really the government's fault. There was a lot of pressure from the people, because they didn't feel safe with the power Supers had.

[There was a small moment, a brief flicker of something on her face that not even the mask could hide, before she shrugged a little.]

Besides, it's all in the past now anyway. After a recent situation with a giant robot, people are starting to realize why they need Supers after all.

[There were still debates about whether to let Supers go back to using their powers. But it was looking hopeful.]

Whoa wait, back up. Giant robot? What happened there??

Well...This super genius named Syndrome invented this giant robot that he was going to defeat using his technology, to make himself look like a superhero to the public. And he had developed it by, um...practicing on other Supers.

But he made the robot too well. It had an artificial intelligence that allowed it to learn how to beat him. So a group of real Supers had to step in and defeat the robot.

Wow. That's... uh...

[Judging by his expression, he didn't know what to make of that.]

Yeah.

[It was pretty much that.]

At the very least, it showed people why Supers were important. So now they're considering letting Supers do public work again.

[Other good things came out of it too, but she'd rather not go into all of that.]

[A breathy sort of confused laugh as he spoke.] Yeah, I bet they are.

Right, that, yeah! So what kinda powers do you have, anyway? Something pretty nice I bet, like flight maybe, or X-Ray vision.

No, nothing like that.

[Another hesitation. How comfortable was she explaining her powers to someone she just met?]

I'm...able to generate force fields, and turn invisible.
