[The feed opens up on a unicorn levitating a rock. Generally speaking, there's nothing all that remarkable about this, but the pony in question is focusing hard on keeping it up there. It falls to the ground eventually, and he gives a huff of irritation. There's undoubtedly some questions being raised here, like "Why is this pony in a cave," and "Why does he look like he hasn't seen a shower in three weeks?" Chromedome doesn't even acknowledge either of those things, instead choosing to say:]
I've recently discovered that I can do things with this growth on my head. Is there any way I can improve my ability to do things with this growth on my head? If anyone's willing to teach me, I promise that I'm a decently good student. My name's Chromedome, in case anyone is curious.
Also Brainstorm: Stop leaving your trash lying around, somepony might trip on them.

I'll make sure to be there.
So, where does 'magic' come from? Why is it only other ponies like me are able to use it? What sort of ways can 'magic' be used, besides levitating things?

As it stands now, it's not so black and white. For example, dragons aren't known to be versed in magic, but because I was before I was brought here, I'm still able to cast the spells I'm used to. Because of that, you'll find magic users of all species.
As far as how it can be used, it depends on the kind of magic you have, and what you want to do with it. Some of our magic users can only work with a particular set of skills, so they're limited to the sort of magic they can use. Luckily, unicorns aren't usually so restricted. They can use magic for everything from the mundane to the extraordinary.
Take levitation, for instance. It seems to be useful for picking things up with a greater ease and dexterity than you would have with hooves, which makes it a useful day-to-day spell. It also lets you take hold of something from a greater distance, which can be an invaluable skill in certain situations. An example of this would be, if you're ever disarmed, you can retrieve your weapon from a further distance.
If you're inclined to do so, you can learn other skills that vary depending on what you need (or want) to do. There are certain spells for battle, some for healing, others for defense -- there are even some that let you change your size, or make duplicates of yourself.
In short, magic itself is as varied as the people that wield it.

Ah, so magic is only limited by one's knowledge and imagination. I suppose I can get behind that. I have a feeling that I know what my particular talent will be.
I'm guessing "Unicorns" are ponies like myself who have these horns. Better that than a Unicron. You don't want one of those anywhere.

More or less. There's a fair bit of effort and dedication that goes into it, but unicorns generally have an easier time with magic.
You already have a specialty, I take it?
[The mention of a talent does remind him, though.]
That actually reminds me -- have you been here long enough to hear about cutie marks?
[That name still makes him want to roll his eyes, but thankfully he keeps the urge at bay.]
A Unicron, huh? I've never heard of that.
