[The feed opens up on a unicorn levitating a rock. Generally speaking, there's nothing all that remarkable about this, but the pony in question is focusing hard on keeping it up there. It falls to the ground eventually, and he gives a huff of irritation. There's undoubtedly some questions being raised here, like "Why is this pony in a cave," and "Why does he look like he hasn't seen a shower in three weeks?" Chromedome doesn't even acknowledge either of those things, instead choosing to say:]
I've recently discovered that I can do things with this growth on my head. Is there any way I can improve my ability to do things with this growth on my head? If anyone's willing to teach me, I promise that I'm a decently good student. My name's Chromedome, in case anyone is curious.
Also Brainstorm: Stop leaving your trash lying around, somepony might trip on them.

Define "things". Are you interested in simply levitation, or do you wish to explore other unicorn magic? I admit, I am not as well-versed in the discipline as native unicorns, but as one who has studied such for a large portion of the last year, I may be able to impart some of what I have learned.
[Visual]
I'd appreciate that. I'm interesting in knowing more than levitating something off the ground for a few seconds. If I'm here I might as well go all the way.
[Visual]
However, I do have other things to do. I may require some form of compensation should I take you up as a student.
[Visual]
[Illusion, huh? Chromedome has the feeling that he'd be remarkably good at that.]
[Visual]
[That's not foreboding at all, nope.]
[Visual]
Fair enough.
[Haha just kidding, Chromedome has no concept of common sense.]
I'll do whatever you need me to do.
Re: [Visual]
Very well. When would you like to start?
[Visual]
[He does feel like he may of signed his spark away. Hmm.]
You might as well tell me your name.
[Visual]
Patchouli Knowledge, librarian of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
[Yes, the full title is necessary.]
Get yourself cleaned up and come to the library in Ponyville in the next few hours. I can at least give you an introduction.
[Visual]
Right. Right. I'll do that.
But thanks anyway, I appreciate all this. With any luck, this won't lead anywhere I'll regret.
[Visual]
[Visual]
However, Teddie will not stand for poor grooming. No wonder he has a growth!]
Take. A. BATH!!
[Visual]
[Liar.]
[Visual]
Was that bath a million billion years ago?!
[Visual]
I... I don't like how the water feels on my skin, okay?
[Visual]
...Aren't you?
[Visual]
[WOW SOMEONE'S PICKY GAWD.]
So what are you, the cleanliness police?
[Visual]
I could be!!
[That would be, like, the best job ever. He'll need to look into it...]
But you seriously look really grody, it's kinda embearassing, I feel gross just lookin' at you. Aren't you worried you're gonna get sick?
[Visual]
[He DOES feel really grimy though. But he also doesn't like water. This is a tough situation to be in.]
[Visual]
[You know, the job that was just made up ten seconds ago...]
At least get one of those lemony fresh wipes and give yourself a good scrub. Maybe it'll hide the smell...
[Visual]
No. You can't make me.
[He stomps his hoof in defiance.]
So there.
[Visual]
Make you, huh?
In this case I might have to use my...bear hands.
[Visual]
[THAT SOUNDED LIKE A PUN.]
You wouldn't actually...?
[Visual]
You better prebear yourself for the scrubbing of a lifetime, buster.
[What the hell is a pun?]
[Visual]
I'll go take a bath, if that'll get you to not come anywhere near me.
[Visual]
[Wow, he is on a roll today.]
BUT I'm gonna want proof.
[Visual]
He thought he had him.]
...What kind of proof?
[Visual]
Or I'm gonna crash in and make it happen myself.
[Visual]
[That's a bit of sarcasm by the way.]
I promise to get my fur all clean and all that. But first, you'll have to explain to me how to do that. I'm betting that jumping in a stream isn't enough.
[Visual]
[That's what a good pair means, right?]
All you gotta do is get a good shampoo and give yourself a scrub down! Maybe even a conditioner for extra shine... OH! And you can never have too much styling gel.
[Visual]
Don't tell me you've gone native already.
[Visual]
By the way, have you gotten anything set up for my dataslug yet?
[Visual]
Nothing yet, like I said the real problem is finding a stable power source.
[Visual]
[Nerd.]
I've got magic. Think you can use that somehow?
[Visual]
...you mean like send rainbows and hope it works on its own?
[Visual]
Then maybe we can weaponize love and happiness and blow the hell out of that "Pale Pony" or whatever.
[Visual]
It merely shouted the word LOVE at dangerous decibels in a ray formation.
[Visual]
[Visual]
[Slaps the many many many modded-over My First Blaster (tm) lying beside him.]
Changed it so many times you wouldn't believe--well, that and making Party Warheads...but that's different!
[Visual]
[Visual]
[EMOTIONS TAKE TOO MUCH TIME.]

I actually do teach a class that focuses greatly on magic. If you'd like to attend, it's every Friday at the Night Market's dojo. If you'd rather be taught privately, that could also be arranged.
As far as introductions go, I'm Vergil. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
I'll make sure to be there.
So, where does 'magic' come from? Why is it only other ponies like me are able to use it? What sort of ways can 'magic' be used, besides levitating things?
no subject
As it stands now, it's not so black and white. For example, dragons aren't known to be versed in magic, but because I was before I was brought here, I'm still able to cast the spells I'm used to. Because of that, you'll find magic users of all species.
As far as how it can be used, it depends on the kind of magic you have, and what you want to do with it. Some of our magic users can only work with a particular set of skills, so they're limited to the sort of magic they can use. Luckily, unicorns aren't usually so restricted. They can use magic for everything from the mundane to the extraordinary.
Take levitation, for instance. It seems to be useful for picking things up with a greater ease and dexterity than you would have with hooves, which makes it a useful day-to-day spell. It also lets you take hold of something from a greater distance, which can be an invaluable skill in certain situations. An example of this would be, if you're ever disarmed, you can retrieve your weapon from a further distance.
If you're inclined to do so, you can learn other skills that vary depending on what you need (or want) to do. There are certain spells for battle, some for healing, others for defense -- there are even some that let you change your size, or make duplicates of yourself.
In short, magic itself is as varied as the people that wield it.

Ah, so magic is only limited by one's knowledge and imagination. I suppose I can get behind that. I have a feeling that I know what my particular talent will be.
I'm guessing "Unicorns" are ponies like myself who have these horns. Better that than a Unicron. You don't want one of those anywhere.
no subject
More or less. There's a fair bit of effort and dedication that goes into it, but unicorns generally have an easier time with magic.
You already have a specialty, I take it?
[The mention of a talent does remind him, though.]
That actually reminds me -- have you been here long enough to hear about cutie marks?
[That name still makes him want to roll his eyes, but thankfully he keeps the urge at bay.]
A Unicron, huh? I've never heard of that.
