Giving Thanks For Loved Ones [Anonymous]

[The last few days have been interesting, to say the least, but this morning, when Ponyville awoke to find itself normal once more, sans a few ponies, it seemed, everyone (and we do mean everyone) would find small baskets at their doors. There's no sign of who might have left them, beyond a personalized note to each that was hoof-typed. Inside the baskets? Treats and goodies: cookies, candies, foods...if the mysterious benefactor knew preferences, those were there. In each instance, there's also a hoof-made scarf for the coming cold, in a variety of colors, all with cutie marks sewn in (if those weren't present, flowers or designs were instead).

For a select few, there are more personalized baskets, and those get to meet the mystery mare later in the day:]

To Ako: Ako's favorite donuts, cherries and mango pieces dipped in chocolate, cupcakes, some music related items, and a gold double-eighth note charm.
To Applejack: Cookies, Nephenee's own apple cider, lots of tasty foods, a voucher for hangout and lunch, Neph's treat, and a charm of an apple.
To Arcee: Lots of fishes, a nice kitty sweater, cookies, and a motorcycle charm.
To Bertie: Bitter candies, some of her shortbread cookies he likes so much, a nice blue tie, and a bee charm.
To Cadence: Teas, cookies, and a winged heart charm.
To Cirno: All her favorite goodies, some school supplies, things for her room, and a snowflake charm.
To Coco: Fashion books, flowers, cookies, and a needle and thread charm. She also get's Kreutzer's bow charm, and a small Kreutzer plushie.
To Dante: Fresh, chocolate-dipped strawberries, voucher for pizza and booze outing, and a charm of his dual pistols.
To Fluttershy (OU): Animal supplies, knitting books and supplies, some cookies, and a butterfly charm.
To Gwen: TEAS, some beauty supplies, and a boxing glove charm .
To Lethe: Fishies, whatever treats Lethe might like, stuff for her room in the upcoming house, and a bell charm.
To MayTwi: Teas, books, chocolates, coupons for hugs, and a star charm, like the stars in her Mark.
To Minato: Coffees, food prep items from Neighpon, some weapon care supplies, stuff for the house, and an engraved charm of the Fool card.
To Patchy: Teas, cookies, BOOKS, and a book charm with her sigil engraved on it.
To Rainbow Dash (AU): Cookies, Daring Do books, and stuff for the new house, along with a charm of her cutie mark .
To Virgil: Teas, books, cookies, and a charm of his sword.
To Yayoi: Pony science texts, teas and noshings from Neighpon, and a charm shaped like a plesiosaur.

All charms come along with a lance charm.

Before they meet up for their run, Morgan's going to find that there's a knocking on his window...
Yes. His window. On the third floor.
Not many here that can do that, so he can probably guess who it is.

The scroll opens, but no one is to be seen. Rather, you can see for miles outside of Ponyville, atop this hill, and she shifts the scroll to show a basket of goodies. Cookies, chocolates, books on many subjects, and a note.

Today is a day for giving thanks, and I've given all the folks I'm thankful for baskets. But I realized you need one too, so here's a basket to show I care about you too. No matter what you've done, I believe everypony needs a friend, and I want to be one to you.

Please enjoy these, especially the books. I know how much you enjoy knowledge.

Unfortunately (or, perhaps, fortunate for the Mage), given that the mare was holding onto Morgan, she went down right along with him! "Ah!" And so there was a little pile of laughing ponies all of a sudden, even if hers was slightly pained. She should have seen that coming! She should've!

"Awful!" Neph nickered between peals of giggles. "Terrible!"

"I know, I know," Morgan said, once he could. "But I couldn't resist. As well you know. You have only yourself to blame for dating me!" He gave her a playful shove, because he could.

Said shove rolled her slightly from her side to her back, where she teetered between sides for amusement shaking her body.

"Ah meant 'sides ponies, dolt!" Like heck she'd regret dating him. Never ever would she do that.

"I know what you meant! But I couldn't resist! Besides, I don't even know!" Neph was Neph, she didn't present a terribly strong impression of any animal to him.

"Not even a sheep? Ah mean, Ah turned into a flyin' one, an'..."

He could probably sense something coming, especially with the little grin she gave him as they lay flopped on the floor...

"Ah do get a lil' baashful..." You're dating her voluntarily and encourage this, Morgan! No one to blame but yourself!

Morgan groaned just as the joke deserved, then promptly rolled over on top of her.

"That was so terrible I'm going to have to crush you," he said matter-of-factly.

This would look awful if anyone came across them...thankfully, it's ridiculously early, so that's unlikely.

"You ain't strong 'nuff to, city boy." Neph quipped underneath him, oblivious to anything untoward about this. "Ah'm benchin' Dante now. Jus' try it! An' no magick!"

"This may take a while, then. I'd better get comfortable." He squirmed a little on top of her, the better to just settle in and look down at her. "Okay, maybe in a couple days or so you'll start getting short of breath."

"Ah'll get hungry or thirsty 'fore that." Giving him a raspberry, she continued, "Speakin' o'thirsty, ya might wanna check out the drink in the basket, under the black cloth...less ya like it cold."

Remember how she promised to make you a certain something when you made her honest-to-heaven hot chocolate, Mage? She's keeping that promise!

"How deep is that basket, Neph?! Is there another world in there or something?!"

Refusing stubbornly to get off her, Morgan casually flicked a hoof at the basket, which caused it to float over to him. He took out the so-called cloth first, unfolding it.

"Naw, it ain't my Whimsicott fluff. Jus' good packin'."

The 'cloth' was a heavier material, one that was suited for blocking wind, and unfolding it netted two things. One, that was a cloak he was holding, with deep green stitching along the edges, some gold stitching in the collar in her native script, and matching deep green winter lining within; two, it had been hiding a large, tightly sealed container of some sort of amber liquid...that should be instantly recognizable to someone as big a fan of it as him.

"Remember Ah said ya got some of my mulled cider? This is a batch of it!" She grinned, even as he refused to budge off her chest.

"Neph, you beautiful woman, I could kiss you!" Could, did. Long and hard, before he finally got off of her. "I'm going to go get some mugs for this, because I am sure as hell not waiting one second more to drink it. Why didn't you tell me in the first place?!"

Leaving the container behind, he scrambled for the kitchen like an eager puppy.

Whoa! Obviously she needed to make him cider more often, if it was going to lead to kisses that left her this dazed and disoriented!

Looking in confusion in his direction when he left, all he might have heard from her was a puzzled pony noise, not unlike an equine 'huh?'. Sorry Morgan, you scrambled her brain with that potent kiss. Those were definitely weapons made for taking out Nephs, and there might've been massive mane frizzling from it!

He thundered back at full gallop with a pair of mugs in his teeth, which he quickly plopped down so he could pour the cider.

"Cider cider, cider cider, cider cider, cider cider..."

He wasn't normally this dorky about cider, but his girl and her wonderful gifts and just HER had put him in intensely giddy mood.

Shaking herself from the daze and haze, she nearly snorted in mirth as she realized just how boyishly excited he was. Like an eager puppy, indeed! Morgan was just so cute when he was like this...

Shaking herself out of that as well, Nephenee grinned. "Careful, don't spill it! Gosh, Ah gotta make ya more more of'en if it does this to ya...an' ya ain't even tried it yet!"

"I'm not gonna spill it!" Morgan didn't spill it, that would be a waste of good cider. He carefully recapped the bottle and set it aside, nudging one of the mugs over to Neph as he did. "Yes, make me cider all the time!"

"Haha, guess your Hearth's Warmin' present's jus' gonna be a year's supply of it!" Despite the (partial) joke, she did make a mental note to make him more if he liked this batch...or take any advice to tweak it one way or another.

With a wink, the mare raised her mug in a toast. "To a sweetheart of a boyfriend who Ah'm right thankful for!"

"To the most magnificent mare ever," he returned, lifting his own mug, "and my incredible luck at landing her!"

"No luck needed!" She chirped, carefully clinking her mug against his. No need to spill precious, precious cider with such a gesture!

Her lips stopped short of actually partaking in the cider, though, resting on the rim instead, the better to take in the spicy scent and, more importantly, to see his reaction to her recipe. Nephenee had to wonder if it wouldn't be his version of a chocolate daze.

He sure didn't stop. Nuts to taking in the scent, he took a sip!

Then he went very still, smiling as the taste worked its way down his throat and the warmth poured through his body.

"Mmmmmmmmm."

Was that good enough to make Neph happy?

Oh yeah. Jackpot.

Meanwhile, she drank of her own, sighing with happiness and pride at the spice notes that came through with the warmth. If she had any say, it'd come out perfectly. "Is it good?" She asked, with the slightest bit of innocence.

About half a minute after she asked the question, he cracked an eye open. "Hmm?"

Nope, he hadn't processed it.

Nephenee bit her lip, trying so, so hard not to laugh...

"Pfffffthahahaha!" and she failed utterly, nearly dropping her mug as she set it down, her other hoof flying to her muzzle to cover it as she lost it, going so far as to curl up. Yes, her cider had definitely had the effect she'd hoped for! "Ah'll...take that...as a 'yes'!"

"...What?" A confused Morgan watched his girlfriend lose it, blinking as he tried to wonder what question she'd asked that his failure to process had reduced her to this. Still, she was so cute that he couldn't help but smile. "What?"

Give Miss Gigglefit a moment, Morgan, she's tickled pink by this reversal. Holding up a hoof to bide for time and to catch her breath, Nephenee managed to at least get her laughter down to little bursts of giggles instead, so she could at least answer. Or try to.

"Ya...didn't hear a...thing Ah said...i-if Ah have chocolate dazes...that must be...your version...but cider!" The mare was just so giddy that she'd done to him what he's managed countless times with her, for once! "Guess...Ah done good!"
