 [This holiday season, the scroll feed is proud to present... a bleary-eyed sky-blue pony with white bed hair that encompasses his entire head. Groggily, he pushes himself semi-upright and smacks his lips, blinking off his sleep.]

[Enough cognisance has been regained that he suddenly notices his hoof, and he examines it for a moment.]

...mm. That's odd. I don't remember turning into a shetland pony. Let's see now...

[Finally getting up, the old equine trots around a bit, giving himself a once over.]

Beard's still here, unusual, that. The rest seems OH! Oh, that had better not be a tattoo down there. Ngh... won't rub off. No, that won't do, I'm not going through that nonsense again. Now, where I w...Hmm. Glasses still there, that's good. Pointy hat? Yes, yes, that seems to be in good nick. Bit crumpled, but nothing a goo- ...by george, is that a horn on my head?!

Transfiguration is like...really really REALLY hard. Twilight couldn't even do it until she was an alicorn! Oh, those are LIKE unicorns, but they're stronger and they have wings and they might live forever.

Pegasi do weather magic though! They're pretty much ALWAYS in charge of doing the weather! I bet there's some unicorns who can do it too, though!

Ohh, I see, I see... So, to recount, ehm- there are horned unicorns, winged pegasi, winged and horned alicorns and...erm...ponies such as yourself. Any other varieties that I should take note of, while I'm here?

Oh, I'm an earth pony! Our magic's in our hooves!

[She prances a little.]

And uh...well, there's BAT ponies, they're pretty much like pegasi but batty. And Crystal ponies! They're like earth ponies made of crystal, but they mostly live up north so I dunno if there's any around here. There might be seaponies living in the ocean, but maybe they're not real? I think they are, but I've never actually met one.

Then there's lots and lots of OTHER people that aren't ponies at ALL! Do you wanna hear about them?

Well, since we've covered this much ground, why not? What other sorts of people inhabit this land, eh?

Okie-dokie-lokie! Let's DO this!

First off, I guess there's dragons! I think MOST humans kinda know what they are already, but they're big scaly lizards that eat gems and breathe fire! It used to be Spike was the only one who lived here, he's just a little baby dragon, but some people who show up here turn into them instead! Dante and Skyfire are the biggest ones. They look a little scary at first, but they're both SUPER-duper nice!

Oh, and we have a lot of changelings here now too! They're not from other universes, except Melissa, she's their Queen to replace the old one who was kinda a big meanyhead. Changelings normally kinda look like black bug-ponies, with horns and little see-through bug wings, but most of their magic is shape-changing stuff, so sometimes they look like other ponies instead! Zetta's got like four changeling decoys, I kinda think I can tell them apart? Anyway, they eat love, but that's okay because I mean there's plenty of THAT to go around. Oh, and Melissa's their Queen! She's taller than all the other ones and she's got the MOST yellow mane and tail. It's curly like mine! The other ones don't really have any hair, I don't know why she does.

[Wow, that's a lot of info at once. It's been time immemorial since Merlin was the student rather than the lecturer, but he does his best to take mental notes and highlight the key points.]

Ah, now, that's very intriguing. You see, in the folklore of my world, I believe, changelings are these goblin-like creatures that steal babies and replace them with their own. So, I suppose it makes sense for them to shape-shift and feed on love.

Really? Neat! I think they USED to change into ponies and take the love meant for them back when ponies still wouldn't let them live out in the open, but it's not like that anymore. I mean, it's not their fault they eat love, right?
