[Here's a pony who has been curiously absent for a while. Others may have glimpsed him for the last day or two walking around lost, but only now has he come back onto the scrolls.]

Ohhh! Like a superhero! Right?

[She nods.] Yeah.

That is so cool! I've never talked to a real superhero before.

[Pause and a little shrug.] Unless Pyrrha counts. She's pretty famous, and an amazing warrior... Then the others are pretty super too, and they're heroes, but I don't know if that makes them superheroes...

[Huh. Gonna have to think about that one.]

Well, generally superheroes mean heroes with powers that are out of the ordinary...

Really?

Yup. Every human, and all the animals too, have this thing called Aura that comes from their soul, though only humans have learned how to use it to protect themselves. I don't think animals are very good at that, at- at least not with Aura.

We can project it into weapons, and everyone's got this personalized power called their Semblance that I think comes from Aura too, I'm not sure. And then you factor in being able to use Dust which is like using magic, and a lot of people can do some pretty awesome things.

Wow...that sounds really impressive.

[It really did. She didn't know too many other Supers back home, so she liked hearing about places that had people with powers like that.]

Oh, it is! You should see what kinda weapons some people have come up with. Like my friend Ruby, she made hers and it's a huge scythe that's bigger than she is, and then it's also, uh.

[He stalls, trying to remember the long confusing title she gave it. Nope. But the smaller one comes to mind.]

It's also a gun, like it collapses and she can use the chamber it makes like a gun. A lot of the things people use- [Like, ALL of them.] -are guns too.

Wow, they make those kind of things?

Yeah! There's a gun-spear, and a gun-staff, and gun-gauntlets and gun-swords, and things like that. They all use Dust too, although... [He stops and looks off crookedly in thought.]

No one's quite sure what Dust is, except it's in different forms with different elements, and they can be mixed to make new effects. And they mine it.

Where do they mine it from?

Well, the biggest mine out there is the Schnee Quarry. I'm not sure about any others off the top of my head. But the Schnee Company is practically the biggest Dusty company out there, you'd be kinda hard pressed to find too many others.

A big company like that must make a lot...How much does Dust cost?

Depends on the kinda Dust you want, and what form you want it in. It's not too bad though- [Or a bunch of students wouldn't be able to afford it.] -unless you want the really BIG crystals, like the size of your finger or more.

Oh, so the prices vary...I see. [That would make sense.]

Pretty much, yeah. The ground stuff is a little cheaper 'cuz you can buy it in bulk, and it's easier to put into bullets or clothing without any extra tools.

Yeah, that does make sense.

[Although she couldn't help thinking of Syndrome's inventions...]

Yeah, I guess it's got to, or people like the Schnee family wouldn't have been able to figure it all out and make this huge business off it.

[Shrug.]

Yeah...guess there's a reason they're so successful from it.

Guess so. Especially with it being so important to fighting the monsters of Grimm, so there's always gonna be need for Dust out there.

...Yeah. Monsters.

Creatures of Grimm inhabit my home, the entire planet of Remnant. They're the only things without a soul, and humanity's been fighting them for as long as there's been, well, anything.

Wow...So I guess that's what all the magic and weapons are for then?

Exactly. And there's schools too, like the one I attend, that train people to be Hunters and Huntresses- the ones that fight Grimm, for a living.
